    Things can't really be that much worse than they are now. Looking at various data for example this game has something like 800k active players.despite having over 10 million played the game. So over 9 million of them players never get there anyway.

    Of those 9million plus I'd bet a very significant portion of them quit because the game is too easy and just isn't rewarding.

    I mean sure a hard chore is worse than an easy one. But the worst chore of all is a meaningless one. Like painting a barrel with a toothbruth for absolutely no reason.

    This is the problem with the game. Everything is meaningless and easy and thus just isnt rewarding. You say many players wouldn't make it if the difficulty curve was steeper. But I'd argue and say many players don't make it already because the game is so easy and boring they give up.

    10 million players but 92% of them aren't active if you look at the last census.

    If you look at the last one where I demonstrated a curve in difficulty you'll see I didn't take the curve all the way to savage. There still a prettty big step there for players but its not quite so overwhelming as it is in the other 2 graphs
