But that doesn't give any feedback for self-improvement, which is where the primary value in the tool is. If I'm trying to figure out if my DPS is good and trying some new melds to improve it, a grade at the end isn't nearly granular enough to really give me the information I need to make that determination.

lol considering I come across bad players on a daily basis in nearly every duty I run, all the complaining I see in FC chat of people coming across bad players, the rant pages on Tumblr, AND the tales from the duty finder (as well as threads in the role portions of the forums), it is not nearly as rare as you seem to think it is.

That's "mean world syndrome," in which media tends to amplify the negative and make it more commonplace. I don't see complaining, I don't see mass bad play, and the only time I had to abandon a casual duty was rab and royal menagerie when they were brand new. Dungeons I never see issues, trials i never see issues. Casual play is fine; the real griping tends to be in 8 man ex pugs and up, and people wanting as quick and as easy clears as casual play.

Also, comparing the negative experiences of the tales of the duty funder thread to the media is stretching it quite a bit. Just because you aren't experiencing it doesn't mean the negative experiences others are having aren't true.

    For profit and ratings.

I seriously doubt actual people with personal experiences, more than hundreds if not thousands, have the same goals or mindset as "the media." This is a public forum. Just because you disagree with a lot you see it does not mean it's propaganda. There is no "agenda," here.

These are personal anecdotes, not facts.

Also, “mean world syndrome” has nothing to do with the Tales of the DF thread—it has nothing to do with a forum discussion—but nice try at using a buzzword to try and further your arguments.

The tales of the DF thread is just as much anecdotal, and nowhere near representative of all the dungeons done. For every bad run, there's easily 20 dungeons or more that go off without a hitch. People don't make threads that often saying "Tales from Duty Finder: My dungeon went ok" because it's a lot more fun to gripe and feel superior to others. We have maybe 800k active players, and people run hundreds if not thousands of instances per day. It's just the bad is more memorable than the good.

Peopel are focusing on ex-level content and the inability of players to want to do it or do it well, and projecting it out to the whole base. People do fine in casual content. The issue is that some players want people to want to do or to be better at raids.

Players should address this honestly instead of complaining about something that doesn't exist to the frequency they think it does in game. Raising the difficulty curve isn't really going to do much if the end result of most players is expert and the 24 man; it just makes those things a little more annoying and will increase wipes rather than fix them.
