They don't want to add one for fear of discrimination, person A is bad, person B (me) is insane, kick person A. Person A feels bad and unsubs, SE doesn't want that. You can download a parser if you want for yourself but don't try and belittle others with it in a group or you will find yourself back in town real fast.

The player that drags down the party, that expects the others to do all the work for them so they can AFK/auto-attack/ice-mage their way through content at the rest of the party's expense, saying "because that's fun for me" is exactly as entitled as the jerk that shouts down others for doing anything less than optimal DPS. That player is also "imposing their playstyle/preferences on everyone else

Thank you. This is excactly why. But many people ignore it and I have yet to see a respons how to fix that. Most are on about those who are dps jerks than those who afk or ice-mage as you said. Thank you.

I think part of the concern is that it isn't clear cut how much dps is acceptable. I'm sure everyone would agree that something like 400 is terrible for a 60 dps, but what about 800? 1000? The answer will likely change depending on who you're talking to, the content itself, and other factors such as how geared the dps is.

With tanking and healing you can say that a player has done their job if they're holding aggro and keeping their group up and doing a great job if they're adding dps on top of their responsibilities.
Most content in the game doesn't have tight dps checks so it isn't as easy to judge objectively. In my own experience I've only had one group with dps low enough to fail a dungeon mechanic (the jails in the Aery) and we got through it after I started helping on my tank.

I still don't want parsers in the game, mostly because I see the problem of people getting into arguments and infighting in DF and PF to get worse. even if it exists outside of chat, I don't want using the numbers to exclude and berate others to become commonplace.

Objective information is never a bad thing. More people are reasonable than unreasonable. You'd have to be a complete misanthrope to believe that parser data would turn most of the community into elitist assholes.

I do not want the parser. I learn, I try strats and strategies, and i do my damndest in df, but I do not want the parser. I don't want it forced on me as a player, or waved in my face when I play.

What difference does it really make? There are already trolls, shitlords, assholes and plebs in the duty finder on any level anyway. They're already there. They're alive and well and making duties hell just for funsies and onesies. So what difference does it make? It's not like there's a flat 0% of mean people in the duty finder right now. It probably won't even make "more" - it will just be the same nerds doing the same thing.
