I think I would like an in-game parser. I'm not serious enough about my numbers to want to install something, but I am curious enough to make use of something in the game.

No not now not ever.
What does skip soar mean?
One of the Trials has a mechanic early on that could be skipped at its release.
Some parties had dps players that weren't particularly experts at their job and didn't do enough damage quick enough to skip it.
Thus, people started making party finders for it and then disbanding the party if the group didn't skip that mechanic, stating 'Skip Soar' in the party finder description.
Regardless of the difficulty of actually performing the soar mechanic.

What concerns me is that there are players that are not good at their class, and have no interest in improving themselves. Those are the players most aggressively Anti-parser. And for what reason? Just because they don't want to be pressured by the community to pull their weight. Something about that attitude makes me feel uncomfortable. If I felt like I was a burden to others, I would want to know so that I could improve myself. Why would anyone feel otherwise?

You are making very big assumptions here claiming thad the so called *bad* players are the most against parsers. What concerns me is that there are players that are not good at their class, and have no interest in improving themselves. What about those that are doing fine but are against parsers on principle, not wanting to be confronted with numbers every step of the way?
It's just that most of the time in these discussions, when you go check the backgrounds of people who are most vocally against parsers, either they aren't actually doing the content parsers are beeing asked for (Savage, ultimate, extremes) or their numbers are poor. People who are utilising the tool somehow tend to do better. :P
And I happen to have been swayed by the anti-parser argument... in favor of parsers...It's just that most of the time in these discussions, when you go check the backgrounds of people who are most vocally against parsers, either they aren't actually doing the content parsers are beeing asked for (Savage, ultimate, extremes) or their numbers are poor. I also have not used a parser, and don't appear to have any logs on FFLogs.
Probably due to me being slow about progressing and getting around to doing stuff.
:P

I am guessing you have checked me out too? And what are your conclusions? It's just that most of the time in these discussions, when you go check the backgrounds of people who are most vocally against parsers, either they aren't actually doing the content parsers are beeing asked for (Savage, ultimate, extremes) or their numbers are poor.
