    NEW JOB IDEAS IN EORZEA

    As the title suggests this is just a new thread to discuss job ideas. And while i'm fully aware there are other similar threads out there there might be those who haven't seen them yet whether they are buried in a sea of threads or people just didn't want to read a couple thousand posts old or new. this gives a chance for people to speak up and prehaps even give the development team another reason to consider your idea for a new job. So speak your peace and have fun with this. Thank you!

    I personally aside from dancer or samurai would love to see a knight like a Valkyrie that is perhaps a dps and uses armor since up till now all of the plate users are tanks. Of course making sets of armor that would fit the Valkyrie theme and use either a two handed mace or one handed mace with a shield as the mace is a weapon not yet used in ARR by the players yet not uncommon in japanese games or anime.For skills they might have some much like a bard or other support classes adding buffs for dps tank maybe even heals to aid in dungeon or raid runs like horn of valhalla or something to that effect maybe a few mob debuffs adding to what other jobs use during a duty.

    Of course those are just random examples not we don't have things like that already but something to consider. It would be an interesting combo if like PLD's with flash and DRK's use of MP Valkyrie knights use MP for certain skills as well not just the standard TP like a DRG or MNK as two examples.

    If you want to be a Valkyrie, be a Drg with parts of the Library armour, as Valkyries are known for mostly using spears, swords to a slightly lesser extent. The Valkyries have appeared in FF before, but as enemies, I would expect the same deal here if they came in at all.

    An archeologist would be cool, use that shovel main hand to dig up relics and weird artifacts left from the calamity, this isnt a battle class btw, if anyones wondering. The class quests would be all about bringing lore to specific areas like the 80 sins of sassamo, or idk all of the areas with a name but no story behind it.

    Sounds like WoW's Archeologist profession. Not that that's a bad thing by any means, it does exactly what it's intended to do, bring extra lore and flavor to the game where it's lacking them. Something that this game could use, though never did it cross my mind to incorporate it in this method. Good idea. ^^

    This would be a cool DoL class, though you'd have to be careful it didn't end up too similar to Miner.

    Role- Tank

    MT Buff: Umbral Ice Aspect - Envelopes your armor in magical ice, Reduces damage dealt from offensive abilities by 15%, increases mana regen slightly, enmity gain, and reduces damage taken by 20%.
    OT Buff: Astral Fire Aspect- Envelopes your sword in magical fire, deals fire damage with a potency of 50 with each auto attack.

    Main Class Survivability Power: Convert - Exchanges HP/MP values, works well with Umbral Ice Aspect
    Main Class Gimmick: Higher Magic Resistance/Magic Damage than other tank classes, optionally with a buff to switch magic/physical defense for non situation tanking.


    Thinking they can equip normal tanking gear, but not the chest/helm, leggings/boots combinations, as they are suppose to be able to equip heavy armor, just not all heavy armors; or optionally they can wear casting gear and use an ability to switch their phys def/magic def for the sake of fitting the tanking system while still sporting magic gear.

    Combo 1: A slash that deals fire damage.
    Combo 2: A slash that deals ice damage.
    Combo 3: A slash that deals lightning damage.
    Ranged Pull: Fire
    Stun: Stop - Can see it's animation being used in a similar fashion to the way the dark knight uses their third hit combo
    AoE Enamity Gain/Damage: Blizzaga
    AoE Ranged Gain/Damage: Thundaga
    Special Ability: Chainspell
    Special Ability: Convert
    Defensive Ability: Shell
    Slow: Gravity
    Support Ability: Haste
    Support Ability 2: NulDeath

    That actually sounds great. have cross abilities with blm and pld. it could work.

    I just thought "What class would the red mage possibly be? *watches a video of a red mage tanking a boss in FF11* " "What would I like for tanking- oh right, magical defense." and "Wonder what the two buffs for the red mage would even be, oh why not Umbral Ice and Astral Fire; that fits the theme perfectly."

    And that's about it, although I have been giving this a lot of thought, and actually logged onto the discussion page specifically to post my ideas for red mage being a tank tonight. I highly doubt the suggestion will actually get read by anyone on the development team, as I'm sure they're already flooded with red mage suggestions already; but everything is already in place for it to be a perfect magic-based tanking class. I just hope they have the same thoughts on the matter.
