Bard dont need a nerf nor a buff, they need a change!
In my opinion, they should remove WM and increase the potency of some attacks when DoTs are still up. Give Bards their mobility back!

When will these cancer posts about WM ever end? The Yoshida said they have no intention of removing it. Get over it

"ranged physical dps" is too easy. Would you like them to add positional to be inline with the rest of the physical dps, or would you like cast time to be comparable to casters?
BRD / MCH have it easy as is, with oGCD being available without affecting ability queue, and ways to manage movement.
Correction: Only Machinist really has ways to manage movement. Bard doesn't get anywhere near as much freedom as Machinist does."ranged physical dps" is too easy. Admittedly, fellow Bards that are looking at WM from a mobility standpoint are for the most part, quite wrong. The real issue is that WM design clashes with what the class was previously designed for in terms of attack rotations, while not actually adding any interesting effects to earlier skills compared to Machinist. Designing a class around cooldown resets and suddenly slapping cast times onto all their other skills is inefficient and very conflicting design. Meanwhile, Machinist gets a bullet system to experiment with prior to learning Gauss Barrel for the sake of maximizing damage. It just so happens that Gauss Barrel stresses the importance of proper bullet usage even further, by making it tied to the ability to circumvent cast times and weave in oGCDs more easily.
Of course, all of the Machinist skills were designed all at once, and so all their skills were already designed with Gauss in mind. WM was added to a class that had existed for years.
Bard really should have had a Ley Lines-type system instead of importing a limitation directly from Machinist with none of the interesting mechanics to work around said limitations. It's actually really disgusting how well designed Gauss Barrel is for Machinist, and how poorly designed Minuet was for Bards in comparison. I really can't call it anything other than a poorly thought out copy-paste job in the name of balance.
I go way more in depth on my thoughts throughout this thread: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-Rain-of-Death

I think they have plenty, simply because each cast doesn't take the entirety of the GCD. you can nudge your way out of most things, and repelling shot the rest.
was a bard, miss repelling greatly still as mch, it was at least 50% of all of my positioning. switched because of the dps difference. Getting more with lower ilvl weapon, makes me sad.
Bards have a lot of freedom currently. You can do largely anything at any point without much planning unlike other classes. Leylines for example, would put more limitations around that. MCH for example, once your wildfire combo start, you better commit to finishing it, depending on the encounter you'd actually have to plan a bit around that.

As ninja, i would like:
- Reduce Tp cost of death blossom (it cost WAY to much and make you go dry to fast).
- Increase the potency of Katon like 20%, from 180 to 210. (So it goes back what it was since the beginning).
It just that i think the job will have a better AoE.
cya.
Also nerfing jobs is not the way to go about it like they have done. Other things can be tweaked instead of doing so.
Careful what you wish for, as mechanics seem to follow wherever leylines is placed no matter were, lol

I do however agree with your points
You say you want this, but you don't want this. And upon reading your description of the whole standing still to do more damage thing, we really already have that. WM can be instantly turned on and off with only a short cd before turning off a second time, so plan your movement accordingly. Also feint is a skill if you are really concerned about double-weaving ogcd skills and don't have an ss proc!
I understand you don't like WM, but your pseudo-ley lines example wouldn't do much to change it other than eliminate a simple button press to turn off and on WM. As to the rest of your proposed changes, most of it is turning bard into machinist without wildfire. You can just play machinist, you know! I play both as well, especially since gear is shared now aside from weapons.
I think they should have given the bard more songs. How about the healing song your teacher has in the level 50 quest? How about also a song that boosts physical DPS (like the MCH). There could be other songs too. I like songs...that's why Bard is fun. Their weird/niche things nobody else can do to help out. It's also why I liked Shaman and their Totems in WoW...bloodlust and random little buffs.... More songs please.Bard really should have had a Ley Lines-type system instead of importing a limitation directly from Machinist with none of the interesting mechanics to work around said limitations.
