-Suggestion: Duties for Disciple of The Hand-

Greetings Square-enix, I have a suggestion to make Disciple of the Hand leveling a bit funner.

Specifically, certain duties where you and a group of crafters can work together on a project; preforming different actions depending on your class.

It could be a full group, and include one of each class, with on-site special materials, and a certain station or stations that players must be within range of to craft the parts.

To complete the duty players will contribute to the overall projects progress, gaining credit with each action completed; example: Carpenter taking the damaged ship wheel, repairing it, and re-attaching it.

Exp will be distributed at the end by how much credit each person contributed, there can be a maximum where, when reached, exp will be dispersed evenly among the other members credit; to discourage elitist gameplay, who memorized each task, got a set plan down for each action and outdoes absolutely everyone else.

    Example Duty:
    Drydock Ship Maintenance

There was too much text to fit on here due to the 1000 character limit, so put it on pastebin.

Runescape had this (can't remember the name of it. It involved maintaining a bunker while a bunch of wraith spirits were trying to tear it down). I'd love to see something like this implemented in this game. It'd be more fun than what feels more like Final Fantasy Recettear, more..... cooperative.

So some realistic visions of this type of fate like this - bluefog has a pump tube leak and needs immediate help craft as many tube plates ans necessary to kee the reactor from exploding. or... we need lots of minable curealan rocks to create these plates, somethng like this i totally agree on. Why do i agree on these? well say youre doing some mining/botany and a fate like drops on your face like the earth spirits in n thanalan, core blimey. now your mining is ruined and youre probably dead.

Maintaining something while it's under siege does sound pretty awesome, with the added danger that you cannot really defend yourself while in your crafting set.

Oh that would be fun, a duty with a mixture of both crafters and gatherers; the gatherers getting the resources for the crafters to create.

Yeah I just remembered. You also needed other players to kill off the shades, after which they can burn the remains for keys and XP, which was only possible when the temple is at full "health", so there's some synergy there.

So a group of crafters in a room, while a foreman yells at them to craft faster. Definitely on board.

Maybe things like Ixali does, like no cross class allowed challenge or something.

Im not sure about particularly duties but I think it would have been interesting to have DotH and DotL progression tied to the development of Idylshire, at least narratively, in the same way as DoM and DoW are tied to raid and story progression. It would be cool if, as crafters, we were tied to the growth and development of the town.

Obviously it would have to be something different in 4.0 but still having a logistics narrative that we were working at would be more compelling than just turning in mass produced items for Rowena to sell.

EQ2 had something like this, but you were able to solo it if you had the time. You could only easily do one of the necessary tasks (based on what crafting class you were), while the rest were far more challenging and time consuming. That of course meant that most crafters just soloed it, because talking to other people is icky... haha! I'm not sure how they could prevent people from attempting to solo it since we don't have the restriction of one crafting class per character, aside from just slapping a time restriction on it that made it impossible.

I'd probably try one of these to see how they went, but I foresee that at some point, crafters will stop doing it either because the rewards eventually lose importance and/or they got everything already, or it gets too hard to find others to do it with and they get ignored.
