    Mount/Barding Name: Armored Wyvern/Dragon/Amphiptere

What is it? How would it be Obtained? Simply put, dravanians with combat armor similar to that sported by the Midgardsormr mount but without the saddle and withh greater emphasis on defensive capabilities, especially around vital areas and weakpoints such as chainmail covering for the underbelly area and interlocking metallic scales covering the wing membranes

How would/can you ride it? (On it's back? Does it pull something?) Chain links located on the armor plates at the base of the neck allow for riders to clip in when necessary and ensure their relative safety in the event of evasive maneuvers by their dravanian partners.

Photo/Drawing? (Optional) Just imagine the in-game models with armor XD

Inspiration for this mount? Current direction of the MSQ in 3.X

How would it fit into the FFXIV universe? Headcannon 3, 2, 1, GO!!

As the nation of Ishgard moves forward with plans for peace with their long time enemies, the nation's military finds itself reorganized into more general combat roles instead of the specialist anti-air units that they were before. Perhaps among the greatest changes to occur within their ranks were with their Dragoons. Once heralded as the premier units in the Ishgard's defense against the horde, they found themselves suddenly without much of a purpose after the cessation of hostilities following the defeat of Nidhogg. Although reports of attacks still occured, they were few and far between with the bulk of Nidhogg's surviving brood surrendering or withdrawing after the final battle at Ishgard. What use did Ishgard have for such a large force of Dragoons in an era of peace with the very people they were specialized in taking down?

Oddly enough, it would be their long time enemies that would provide the answer to their identity crisis, and it would fall to a former Azure Dragoon, Ser Alberic Bale, to see their order into the new dawn. The passage of time had taken their toll on the former leader, who had seen others and personally experienced the feeling of losing everything to Nidhogg's Horde in the 1000 years Ishgard warred with them. In light of the revelations about the true nature of Ishgard's treachery in the past, how both sides had lost loved ones to a needless conflict that had dragged others into it, and having experienced the horrors of war, he was more than ready to follow through with Aymeric's push for peace, where man and dragon need not fear one another. It was in this spirit that Alberic proposed to the Lord Commander of a new purpose for Ishgard's Dragoons, not as dragon killers but as elite shock troops with the capacity to strike hard and fast anywhere against their enemies. Having fought against them for so long, he knew all too well the advantages dravanians had with troop mobility and aerial suppression. But it was the arrival of the Warrior of Light from Azys La that triggered in his mind the potential for aerial combat drops.

It was hoped that by training alongside one another, both sides would be able to see each other as more than the monsters they might've been brought up to believe they were. But there in lay the problem. Getting a group of dravanians to agree to being combat mounts for an order that used to hunt them. Although Aymeric himself agreed with the overall layout, concerns were voiced when it came to recruiting suitable dravanians for the new order. Would they find it insulting that they were being used as mere mounts? Ultimately, Alberic himself took it upon himself to visit Vidofnir herself in Anyx Trine to enquire her views. To his great surprise, she was highly supportive of his idea and even shared with him the long lost history of Ishgard's initial peace with Dravania, where man and dragon trained and fought alongside one another. With her blessing, the first dravanian recruits were assembled and together with the first batch of Dragoons, began their transition into a new era.

Once used to strike dravanians from above, the Dragoon's signiture jump ability was now used to an offensive opening move against other aerial and ground based enemies with the added bonus of the Dragoon being launched from the back of their scaled compatriots and if needed, used as a means of extraction should they ever find the need to retreat. Where dravanian fire would once had torched Ishgard, they were used to lay suppressing fire and cover retreating forces. Endless possibilities opened up with the new joint venture, from surgical strikes to search & rescue.

That is not to say that the transition was entirely smooth. Centuries of inbred distrusts and hatred for one another was simply not overcome overnight. With the practice of pairing up 1 Dragoon to 1 Dravanian, many recruits resigned simply because they could not bring themselves to trust their counterparts. Then there was the issue of providing adequate armor for their Dravanian counterparts. Years of fighting each other had taught the Dragoons every single weakpoint that their new partners had, and the time had come to plug those holes in their defense. A feat easier said than done with Ishgard's armorers having no experience in crafting armor for dragonkind. Yet despite these setbacks, Alberic pressed on with his efforts. His efforts were rewarded, 3 years after Nidhogg's fall, he was proud to present the first 12 Dragoons of the new order to Aymeric. Years of training together in the harsh environments of the north had built a bond of camaraderie between the paired partners, who had to trust and rely on each other to survive. A few days later, they were officially unveiled to the people of Dravania and Ishgard, to a massive outpouring of support from both sides. With further proof that cooperation was indeed possible between former arch enemies, both sides increased efforts to further ties with one another. New trade pacts were forged, scholasticate curriculums redesigned to include visits to their Dravanian neighbours, and a massive influx of new joint projects by both sides. The actions of the original 12 Dragoons and Dravanians have to our present situation, where the people of Ishgard work hand in hand with dragonkind to rebuild what was lost, one step at a time.

Militarily, dragons often serve as heavy shock troops. Heavily armored and with plenty of firepower to unleash, they're often trained to break enemy lines and serve as the spearhead of any Dragoon assault, attracting the enemy's attention while their Dragoon counterparts initiate their own strikes to disorient enemy forces.

Wyverns and amphipteres on the other hand have more specialised training in air to air combat with their sleek, aerodynamic forms. As a result of this, Dragoons partnered with them often have to undergo additonal mounted combat training to ensure that they can maintain their bearings during aerial combat maneuvers. For ground based operations, they often provide fire support to their compatriots with strafing runs and if needed, provide extraction capabilities, their smaller bodies making them exceedingly proficient at rescuing isolated units and in search & rescue missions.

I don't even care how it's obtained, but I want this as a mount. This poor model is only used in, like, 2 job quests. :\

That model has a lot of screentime in XI so I think it needs a break or is taking one.

I just thought of a few. I'd love if we got a SCH mount (like easy to get like the level 30 WHM/CNJ unicorn) that essentially equated to this:

    Mount/Barding Name: Fairy Dust
What is it? How would it be Obtained? - Fairy dust that makes you fly, obtained from a simple SCH sidequest.
Inspiration for this mount? SCH lore seems to be pretty scarce at best so it would be nice to have a bit of a wink and a nod to the job. Plus it would be nice to integrate the fairy into the job in a non-combat way.
How would it fit into the FFXIV universe? Well, we already have flying fairies so... yep. Hahaha.

    Mount/Barding Name: Personal Caravan
What is it? How would it be Obtained? A single-person caravan, pulled by a chocobo. (Maybe an alteration to the base chocobo mount so it appears?) But I think it would be an awesome way to add in a new quest chain or a short sidestory that culminates in you getting a caravan. Especially if it's a quest that involves using any DoH/DoL class as well.
How would/can you ride it? I personally would prefer to ride in the caravan, since we already ride on chocobos.
Inspiration for this mount? Just some flavor. And maybe wanting to ride in a Cinderella-style carriage.
How would it fit into the FFXIV universe? Well we have them already, just have to shrink them down and make them personal! lol

    Mount/Barding Name: Showstopper
What is it? How would it be Obtained? A floating, small stage with a spotlight. It would be a new Gold Saucer reward, for those who already have most/everything that can be bought there.
How would/can you ride it? You would stand on it in a pose, and the stage would just hover/fly above the ground.
Inspiration for this mount? Honestly, from seeing this "type" of mount as the new PvP airship mount, and not really caring so much for The Feast nor the airship design, I thought it would be great to have another mount available that we stand on and show off our character.
How would it fit into the FFXIV universe? It seems to fit perfectly well into the garish rewards that the Gold Saucer already offers. Why not guild the lily?
