Well, If you ignore Insurance, Land Tax and Maintenence.

But this isn't the real world. This is the Fantasy world, and people were against Housing Rent before the system was even released.
They have made a lot of mistakes with housing, Rent would just add to the list ><

People are focusing their energy in the wrong direction, I think. Rather than going at each other over who has the right to hold on to a house for how much time, we should be asking Yoshi-P - very loudly - "Why the hell, many months on now, is it still even a problem? Why are the solutions being implemented little more than band-aids and not actual fixes?"

The problem is, the housing system was poorly planned, poorly implemented and needs to be completely revamped and re-designed from the ground up, in a way that will accommodate demand on-the-fly, or far closer to it. "But! But their resources!". What about them? That's their problem to sort out, not the players' to just "deal with".

This is the issue and we're turning on each other when, let's do some math here 8 wards with 60 houses = 480 houses multiplied by 3 cities = 1440 houses. It seems like the Devs didn't consider server population once because these numbers don't cater to some servers. When Housing was "FC ONLY" this still wasn't enough considering there are as many as 2 times the number of FC's on a server. Now when you factor in housing no longer being restricted to FC's, releasing something as simple as 30 more houses per ward would be a slap in the face again. I just hope the apartment units are "instanced" so there won't be a shortage of them.

I've rented out my top floor of my house for a one time payment of one million gil. My tenant got 50 slots, full craftstations, full gardening, full privilege to remodel the walls, flooring, ceiling light, windows, armoire, company box, immediate access to the marketboard so they didn't have to pay tax on Lominsa purchases and even chocobo stables.

Granted they could have paid 300k for a fc room since you also get 50 slots, this would have been the cheaper way to go for them, but I find that fc rooms have a very limiting design flow, where as the upstairs of a medium plot is more open and allows for more customization.

I'm not a fan of the idea. I already paid for my house, I shouldn't have to pay extra because everyone doesn't have a house. You will eventually learn life isn't fair.

my thoughts exactly i slaved my butt off gettin enough money to buy my small house.. why should i have to pay rent on an house i already brought?? its really easy to make gil if you want to these days compared to previously.. they should save up n camp housing plots like the people who buy n sell do ._.

For as long as I am subbed, and I own a home / lead a FC owned home, I shouldn't have to fret over missing in-game payments or 45-day login activity; I am still "playing" the game and supporting it. I spent more time and money earning that home, decorating that home, and enjoying that home. Why should I lose all of that over taking a break? It matters not the length of my "break", or the reasoning behind it - That's my business. Not yours!

How about waiting for this next housing wave, or raise your voices even further for additional housing? I understand everyone wants their own personal hole-in-the-wall, but could you please stop trying to get additional restrictions thrown onto those of us who were fortunate enough to get housing? I completely support losing my home for unsubbed inactivity. Other than that, please go away

You are absolutely right. Supply is far too limited, and increasing the number of houses to meet demand is the key to the entire problem. Hopefully the new wards and apartments that are going to be introduced will address this issue.

As to rent, taxes? Please, don't introduce either. I play games to get away from all that.

The 45 day period is already too short; if you are paying a sub, I don't see why you should lose your house, regardless of how active you are. Yes, people get bored and take a break (though why shouldn't they?).
Other reasons for not playing are beyond anyone's control, your job might take you away from home for a few months, you could have an accident, get sick or your family might need you. Nobody should be punished for being having to deal with a real life crisis.

This proposal would not only cut down the time you are allowed to be away from the game even more, it would also demand constant activity 'just to pay the rent'. No thank you!

Funny how everyone with a house are the one's against it; lack of perspective maybe?

Regardless, the idea would help a lot to cut down on house sellers and force people to stay active if they want a house. If you want to take a break; go for it! That doesn't mean you should get to slap your name on a useless house while you take your personal time, stopping other's from accessing content that you'd rather have sit there.

The new wards won't fix any issues either, they'll let new people grab plots, but they'll quickly be snatched away and we'll be right here again. Housing should be for active players, and working for some pocket change every 2 weeks will not kill you. If the game isn't worth that for you, then relinquish the plot because there are active players who love the game and would enjoy it a lot more than it sitting there empty for you to pop in and out of every once and a while.
