Alternatively, you could buy a house and just make sure to step inside once every 45 days, like how it is currently.I like the idea of rent... even at 100k a month!!!
Here is why...
I currently have 17m gil set aside to buy a house.
If at 100k on the 1st of every month I could have a house for a very long time.
Setting up that you can pay for 3 months at a time and given email and IG mail warning when it expires and I can stop off 300k at a time.
Even 200k a month wouldn't be bad.
A mentor stole my house, slapped me across the face, and raised my ping from 15 to 30. Literally unplayable.

I was expecting this thread to be a rent-to-own option, for the folks who couldnt afford to buy a plot when it was available...
Personally Im against the OP's idea.
Some people worked really really really hard to save for their house and finally bought one. Those same people may also have lives that require them to be away for a few days. Not everyone can play XIV every day.
I know I'll be moving soon (internationally) and may not get to tend to my house... let alone play soon. And I would be absolutely ANGRY if they just gave away my house because I couldnt log in to pay a stupid fee. (Nor should I have to)

I don't own a private house but I'm okay with paying 10k rent, but not every 2 weeks. I'd pay every month.
When the housing was just for FC, my friend and I made a new FC from scratch, level it to rank 6 by crafting hundreds of HQ items every day. Save up 50 million for it and finally got a large house.
Just saying, if you really want something, put in effort! To those that are crying just because you don't want to put effort to get something you want, just shut up. To those who put in effort and still couldn't get the house, I'm sorry honey! You'll get it soon! Don't give up yet!
Even by design, the actual amount is negligible (or some have suggested using a token that one gets for free). That means that this suggestion boils down to "take an action every two weeks".
The game already has that, wherein the action is entering the house and the timer period is 45 days, so I would say that this is simply an overly convoluted way of asking for the auto-reclamation timer to be lowered to two weeks.
I presume (and would hope) that SE thought long and hard about this feature and decided 45 days was the right amount of time.
