    Request: Elf Ears

Not exactly sure where this should be posted, but here goes...

Could we please have this? Please?! It would be incredible to have the option to choose a set of ears like Hilda's from the MSQ for both male and female midlanders. Elezen are way too elongated and awkward. I love elven races in games like this, typically, but there's no way I could ever play one of those guys. However, a simple ear option for Midlanders make for very aesthetically pleasing options. If adding the option to the character creator is too big of a chore, could it possibly be added as a head gear option? I'm sure it'd be possible to create a set of ears that replace the existing ones. Some helmets already remove ears as is, it's just a matter of putting the new asset over the top of that portion of the head! That would open up the option of equipping these to Roegadyns and Miqo'te (2 sets of ears; cat ears could remain on top of the head) as well, but of course it wouldn't work for Lalafell, Elezen or Au Ra because of ear types/placement of horns. Mixed breeding is supported by the lore, so at least this way we could role play our characters as being half lalafell or elezen, even if the option doesn't exist in the character creator.

It wouldn't make much sense given how much contempt there is for half-elves throughout Ishgard. Furthermore it's meant to be something quite rare.

If we're going to get new character customisation options or a new race then I'd hope that it would something more in-depth than just sticking elf ears on a Hyur and calling it a day.

Ishgard is purely a matter of status. The population is predominantly Elezen, and they are pretty much the ruling body of the region. That's a matter of status. Nobody wants to have children with a filthy hyur. Thankfully, we are just guests in that place. That place sucks, anyways. So, the Ishgard argument is pretty irrelevant. The lore states that mixed breeding does in fact happen elsewhere, but of course, it's not as common as remaining within the confines of one's own race. It was never said in lore to be difficult to have children of mixed heritage. The only limiting factor is the social stigma, which is much, much lighter elsewhere than it is in Ishgard.

1 mixed race NPC out of hundreds indicates they are incredibly rare. Also, you don't really know whether there are other complications in having a mixed child, that would significantly reduce the chances of a successful pregnancy. Personally, I agree with Graeham and think it is a rather superfluous idea. There are much better things SE can focus on customisation-wise.

Or should they begin throwing in half lalafell, half au ra, half roegadyn, half miqo'te and all permutations thereof? Why stop at half-elves? After all, we know that hyur and miqo'te can mix.

By and far a trope of fantasy and science fiction has always been about the "adaptability" of humans. Should Midlanders get the option of only slightly pointed ears, would it really be so bad? No gear redo's, animation changes, just an extra ear option. By that token some slight addiotions to the character creation would also be much appreciated. (Beard options for men, all hair options for all genders and races (excluding Au'Ra), dye-able scales/ horns for Au'Ra (slight), expanded features for all genders/ races, ect...)

it would be nice to give existing races more customization

but I get the feeling SE has to choose between

    1) New race
    2) New customization options for older races
