Our Potential...

With a new map and possibly game mode on the way. I would very much like to say our scene, not mine. Not yours, but OUR scene... has both the potential to rise or fall. With loyalty we can sustain it. But most importantly through our actions, we also control its growth.

We all want to PVP.

I'm not here to give anyone a hard time. I never name names, point my finger or call anyone out. I don't have time for that. I hear talk about hoping the new modes don't kill The feast. I hear people saying “I'm tired of new modes killing the previous ones.” And ultimately SE should do this, SE should do that...

SE... Actually does do a lot! We all know PVP is not the focus of this game.

Yet we now have a mode we do in fact all enjoy. With a leaderboard AND a matchmaking system. No matter it's flaws we have one now and we didn't have it before. Then there is talk about not playing, quitting or just straight up complaining. The posts I made was an attempt to get us to open your eyes and appreciate what we do have, and how we can use it to get what we actually want.

But all this attitude... It's like you'd rather have nothing over something.

We complain about the ranks and how we’re only low because we keep getting a new player on our team. Who are we really trying to justify this to? The same people that will doubt your skill when you are at the top? I mean... Come on now... We don't respect those guys in the top ten. They all got there because either they played more games than us or, they play a class that is able to carry more than the one that we use. Right?

Disagree with me all you want but no matter how high you get on the solo queue leaderboards, you guys won't show any more respect for each other, than you already do now. And I know you're not posting on the forums complaining about your ranks and rating, because you really don't care about the ranks and ratings. You all have chosen to care, just by posting here, then justifying your behaviour even when confronted. Are you playing for the rewards or are you playing for another players acknowledge?

Let me ask you this….

Who's going to care about who has the most kills or who is able to heal the most in Seal Rock... When nobody is playing it?

So now tell me... Who is going to care about your Gold rank, or your Platinum rank when there's nobody there to see it? Let me tell you, it's not the guy that's right next to you on the leaderboards that's going to respect you. It's not the people that feel they're better than you and feel they deserve to be there instead of you, that's going to respect you.

It's the new players, the players that come to play and know that they cannot get as high as you. Who don't know the reasons why they cannot get as high as you.

So my advice to all of you. Next time you get the opportunity! Next time that new mode comes out and everybody wants to try it out. Make it fun. Encourage people to play. Welcome the new players. We are not WoW, we are not LoL... We do not have the player base to trash talk a player and never see them again. We are that small. They will report you. They will stop playing and our scene will be hurt by any of the consequences. And we will end up with dead game modes and insane queue times.

It's about time we learn from our mistakes. Give the scene some time to grow. Allow it to grow before you decide to start cutting away at its leaves.

“It's expected... Every other PVP scene is Toxic.” - Some of us.

You know what I hear? I hear an excuse. I hear "I am this way, because another game made me this way". Guys again we are not WoW or LoL players. You want to know where I'm from? I'm from the Halo 2 era, where telling people “they suck” is almost the same as saying “Hello”. There I moved on to the Fighting Game Community, where guys will not even respect you, as you sit right next to them! In the arcade! Face to face! Because you don't know how to play at high level. When we play this game we are Final Fantasy players. Have some pride and say you don’t have to be that way.

Why?

Because you understand how small we are and you have love for this game too. You should want to see it grow. You don't queue up for Solo Queue in hopes to never get a game. You'd rather play with anyone than play with no one. If not then go ahead and never queue. You'll never play with anyone that way too.

So please those of you that can, when Square Enix does release a new mode and everyone wants to play.

Welcome them, in hopes that they do... stay.

P.S. As long as I play this game I'll always try to help the PVP scene grow. But one guy can only do so much.
