As much as I would love to test how generous people are, begging for gil doesn't feel right to me especially since the lack of gil I might have is partially due to putting in less effort/time...even if it is not the sole reason for the lack of gil. The biggest issue is you do not know where that donated gil comes from and it could come from someone who bought it off a gil seller which could lead SE to your door unknowingly and unintentionally that might end up getting you suspended or banned or something. That is something I would be concerned about personally which would also put me off asking for donation from strangers. There is also no houses available on my server anyways (no small, medium or large left last time I checked) so would be no point right now.
