Thread: MSQ Meridianum + Praetorium: A self-imposed dilemma

I think I may have hit a little bump. This is my first character, and my main story quest is at the point where I have to find a group for Castrum Meridianum and the Praetorium.

I realize that these dungeons are infamous for their 20+ minute cutscenes, but I'd really want to watch them. Along with The Secret World, FFXIV is an MMO with a storyline and world that I very much enjoy, and it would be a shame to not experience it firsthand.

The problem is, Heavensward is over a year old by now. CM and Praetorium are no longer relevant content, like they were as baby steps to endgame back then. The only reason people end up in one is because Duty Roulette dumped them there. These will be people with limited time and proportionally limited patience, as they're only here for the Tomestones. I've no right to impose myself onto these people. I've already been given a complaint for watching the cutscene in the end of Totorak. It's going to be much worse here.

At the risk of sounding petty, I'd really rather not watch these cutscenes on Youtube, as I feel it would ruin the experience. But at the same time, I also can't bring myself to waste people's time. To that end, I kind of wish these MSQs were solo instance Duties instead of raids.

I'll probably be contemplating this until I grow some thicker skin.

If you're in a fc, ask you're fc mates. Depending on when they started the game they might never seen them before

You can try setting up a party finder group to try and find like minded people who'd want to watch the cutscene as well.

Although not ideal as its always nice to see it the first time you are in there, all cutscenes in the game can be viewed at the book in your Inn room to watch at your own leisure.

Actually i dont think you can watch those specific scenes last time i checked

I'm sure if you made a party finder and /shouted that you'd like to watch the cutscenes, some people will help you (even if you can only get a few people, you can do it unsynced and still watch all of the cutscenes).

It's a shame you're on Gilgamesh, I'd have helped you out!

Yes you can.

You can run them without a full party now - it may not feel as epic as doing it with 8 people, but honestly you never really needed 8 people to do it. So I would advice you to ask some friends/FC-mates to join you (this way you'd also make sure that you dont get your experience ruined) - you dont need a full party, you can inform them beforehand (so they can either rewatch the scenes themself, a lot of us havent seen them for years! Or grab a book, another game to play... something like that) and at least my FC makes sure that our new memembers dont run them on DF and have a proper experience (if they want that).

Also, I do have to disagree about the solo-instance: It does seems more appropriate to do that raid as a group and it adds more of an epic feeling to the whole scenario. I do get that its annoying (and I'm glad that SE learned from that mistake) but... it does feel kinda "right" not to engage this fight alone.

That combined with the many leveling FCs around Gilgamesh should help with this. It's about time I made use of it.
