    Fey Wind question

    I'm wondering just how much of a increase to raid damage does Fey Wind actually provide in current content? Granted I know that using either Eos or Selene is very depended on the content you are doing but for Savage raiding I wonder just how much that small 3% SS actually helps?

    Recently my group has been going through several Scholars and they have had to leave due to work reasons. Having been Scholar for second and final coil I had a good feel for the class, knowing when it was a good time to use either fairy. But since HW has been out I question just how useful Selene is for a raid scenario. I am now the main WHM/AST for my group and I feel like I'm too far disconnected with SCH to really know if Selene is worth while still and I'm judging people unfairly for using her as opposed to Eos.

    Then again maybe I'm just bad at healer and need to git gud. ;u;

    If you can complete the healing responsibilities without the help of Eos, then Selene is a direct DPS boost no matter how minuscule it is. With that being said Eos' healing abilities can help both healers contribute more DPS as well. It's kinda up to the group to decide which they feel is worth using more.

    As an arbitrary example, if Selene's Attack Speed buff contributes an overall 1% DPS increase in a 7K raid DPS scenario, that's 70 additional DPS. If the use of Eos allows the healing load to lighten up enough for the healer(s) to contribute over that 70 DPS, then it's better to use Eos.

    Of course your judgement of that will depend from fight to fight and the comfort level of your healers in said fight. It doesn't answer your question directly but I wanted to give you some pointers towards how to consider what to use since in the end your group will need to decide how you want to tackle that fight.

    I would say for simplicity sake and a general rule of thumb, if the healing doesn't need any additional help Selene is the way to go. Optimizing for specific fights will come as you experience it.

    Selene in theory provides up to a 1.5% boost, but she can't really be consistent with that number. Imagine the third time fey wind is up, when the FREE GCD happens and it just happens to land during a Vulnerability phase or one where everyone's CDs line up. In this case she might even give a greater than 1.5% boost. Selene also provides fey caress for the War (if timed correctly) or a general free esuna, which in itself is a dps boost. Being inactive during her fey wind time (invulnerability/mechanics) cause her buff and worth to dwindle.

    Eos also gives a DPS boost, helping to give the healers an extra GCD or two to DPS. A healer's GCD dpsing is worth less than the DPS portion of the raid so if Eos manages to free up 8 GCDs for you and your cohealer to DPS in a 2 min and 30 second window, its still less than what the 4 DPS/2 tanks/ and yourselves as the 2 healers, could have done with selene.

    If I had to put a number on it, I'd say selene brings a 1% Raid-Wide DPS buff, where Eos brings a .5% Raid-Wide DPS buff (Best case for Eos, because anymore than that and Selene could be healing it.)
