Are you forgetting that server transfers cost real money? Asking people to spend $18 (not to mention all but 1million of their gil), for a chance at finding open housing is utterly ridiculous.

You can buy items to sell on the new server, keeping your gil. And if housing is so important, why not server transfer?

Are you hearing yourself right now? You're actually suggesting that people spend their own real money to server hop on the chance that there could be open plots available. This is not even close to a viable suggestion. Even if you were 100% guaranteed to get plot when you transferred servers, the idea of needing to spend more real life money to get a feature that should already be available is ludicrous.

There's a ton of open plots on Mateus, it's just whether you're interested in paying $18 to get a plot now or hoping Square Enix doesn't jack up the price of housing.

We have tons of housing as I'm sure other small severs do as well. If you don't want to spend money you can also make a new character to mess around with the house features. A small is only about 1M on our server so it doesn't take long to get with all the money you get from the main storyline.
