    Gobbiebags / inventory expansion

    Greetings all, I wanted to leave a little thought here that I think would be quite interesting. As a tribute to FFXI and as a service to players in need I think it would be lovely to see X|V acquire our own "Bluffnix".

    This could work in two ways to help the player:
    1. Start with quests to add new inventory tabs, and have material requirements he will need to 'craft & expand' our carrying capacity
    2. After inventory is at the new capacity, he can offer to expand our armoury chests, but at a cost of rarer or possibly dungeon / raid dropped items. Then create two sub-tabs per Armoury slot for: DoH + DoL & DoW + DoM. This separates our trade and battle gear neatly, and doubles our space.

    I believe it would add interesting flavor to the game, give a grand applaud to long-term fans of the FFMMO history, etc.

    Hope there are others that think this is neat!

    I like the idea, but I'm not sure it would happen with SE selling retainers and having "problems" with server limitations and inventory limits.

    Not sure what the business case details would be at SE for this. FFXI also has the equivalent of pay to play retainers (alternate characters) that were heavily used for inventory expansion AND at the same time they added wave after wave of gobbie bag expansion. It's always a balancing act to optimize revenue and not do something that drives away subs.

    I would settle for being able to "friend" my alts in this game and make transfer of material between them (if on the same server) easy.

    I would like them to make anohter Amory tab and have it for your crafter/gather gear it a pain in the *** currently IMO...

    Inventory and armory space increase shouldn't cost you an arm and leg in Gil and time like gobbiebags. Its ridiculous and there's nothing fun about it.

    That being said, I LOVE interacting with gobbies. I'm more than happy to do quests for those greedy fools. Just not for increased space. Or at least not make it as time consuming and expensive. Or, if they are to be that way, then make the reward more than just more space. If a Gobbie could function as a traveling retainer, I'd gladly put time and Gil into that.

    They have said frequently the reason they haven't expanded inventory is a technical one. If and when they expand inventory Im sure they will do something but until that technical issue is resolved we aren't going to see anything.

    This is a neat idea but SE definitely has issues with data. I'd love to have more armory chest space..i am constantly running out and I can't even hold all my weapons in it. Perhaps if they invested in a better server for their data it could happen but right now I think they are more focused on dungeons..

    If you talk to the Gobbies in ildyshire near where you turn in for materia, they are definitely up to something there. They mention they will have new things soon.... who knows...


    It looked to me that they were building a shop. I guess they will probably take over or compete with rowena soon with things to sell us... maybe even gobbiebags...(i doubt but, if it comes into the game, I'd think through there)

    The goblins are actually building a manufactory. The Goblin at the door tells you about it if you talk to him.

    If we are to believe that inventory can not be expanded due to "server limitations" then hypothetically what if 250,000 more people subscribe to the game? Where are these supposed "server limitations" that would allow 250,000 more people to have as much inventory space as we do with the option of paying for additional storage space via paid retainers???
