    Notes On Decency

    Nothing too important but in view of recent incidents, felt like drawing attention to what Jazz and a few others were saying about simply being nice towards others in feats in general (even if the end result is me feeling like the cheesy protagonist of a 1980s movie..)

    Been fighting my way to gold since last night, sitting at desk drawing on laptop in between matches. Qualified first time, lost all 3 ina row for one reason or another. Decided to take someones advice (ironically posted here as well) and just cool off a bit. Started browsing around here and just reading random posts. Here I see Jazz's words on just being nice..as if its the simplest thing in the world lol (and when your own tush is on the line..sadly, its not, but >< Others commented on it too, regarding feast and dealing with noo....new people, how nothing's accomplished by being negative.

    Keeping said stuffs in mind, me push back to promotion again. Very 1st match..is with healer on team (a lala..always a lala..hate you little bags of walking misfortune so much) known for getting rect at match start. My first inclination is simply to type "Ahhh hell..." but at that instant..Jazz's words come back to me so, Vae..you shut your mouth. Match starts, and yep..other team knows this healer well so the first 2-3 minutes are thankless. We keep going however and what do ya know but the little guy seems to get a second wind. 2-3 minutes later finds us in the lead with him teabagging the ranged dps (see how RUDE lalas are?) but guess everyone needs a little payback. We end up winning and me give him a comm where there mightve been a growl before. Live and learn.

    Next match I give out a suggested plan and the healer (again a lala...im not lying) goes "So what do I do..should I hide?" Let me ask..would YOU be concerned if your healer asked this during promotion? A pure, innocent 9 year old school girl gets into a van with 4 emotionless convicted rapists and asks innocently.."So what happens now?" But again , Jazz's words on simply being decent regardless of the situation come to mind so I just respond "Just try to survive and heal." Once she grabs the defensive item from the ranged dps I know I'm off to my coffin in about 40 seonds but w/e. The fights a bloody one but again, we end up winning where it wouldve been far easier just to throw out a few git gewds and stop caring either way.

    I lose the next two, one of em purely because my own output sucks so Im starting to sweat like the Subway guy while having lunch with Chris Hanson. Final match starts and its a tug of war pretty much. Near mid match, the plds around 4-5 stacks. We get the kill and I head for the medal...nope. Pld scoops it up. Ding..hello 10. Aaah hell. ^%$#@ When youre this close to your goal, it KINDA reeeally hurst to see something like that and you really really really really really really wanna call on it. But again, the ghost of Jazz pops beside me -you shut that mouth Vae-. "Hmm..might wanna pull back tank' is all I say. He actually listens, but not before the brd gets his money's worth with a full burst, killing him. Match progresses, time going down and me and the ranged are grabbing medals after every kil. With about 1:40ish left we kill their melee, they kill our ranged. I wait for a few seconds...and this time, the tank doesn't pick up medals so I do..and get 10 stacks. Immediately I break off and head back to the ramp while the tank and healer keep fighting, passing up my own ranged otw. With about 40 sec left, I see other team's ranged rushing down the field all by himself and come up (meanwhile our tank has just died again.) He SBs me, then proceeds to fully buff. I gaze heavenward and prepare to be reunited with every taru I played Mortal Football with since my ff11 days..and what do ya know...the tank respawns..and stunlocks him to hell. Match ends. Gold rank.

    Pushing the cheesy factor here I guess but what people have said about simply being decent in matches goes a long way. God knows its not easy, especially times where youre 100% justtified to call someone for something. Buuuuut if you can bite your tongue and keep going, just might change a misfortunate future.

    ..either way..Im taking some MORE advice from this forum and quitting while im ahead, top 10 be damned >_> Will be a &^%ing team of 3 lalas next time and jesus himself won't be able to turn it around ><;

    Eh.

    I'm on the fence with this.

    I mean, if the game is well played and we still lose, yeah...but if we lose because lack of roles not performing as they're intended to (that goes equally for dps/healers/tanks), then I don't think praise or "good try" is deserved as it gives a false idea that the team played well.

    That being said, if people performed poorly calling them "crap tier players" or the like is all but constructive.

    All this week, I've slowly grinded my way up to 900. I hit my gold qualifier last night, and then, like magic... started losing like crazy. Today, I'm down to low 600s. (I'm not even kidding -- won maybe one or two matches today.) Before that, my ratio was well above 60%.

    I really should take people's advice and not try to do this on the weekend. Unfortunately, you get tossed in with a really mixed bag of participants. I found my best luck to be midday and primetime on weekdays... and by 'best luck', I mean getting paired up with and against people who are around my rank, so it's always a good fight regardless of a win or loss. It's really frustrating to be tossed in with unranked/bronze people who really aren't seasoned in PvP yet. (I've seen quite a few notoriously bad players in silver, though. How do they get there?)

    All of that said, I agree with you 100% regarding attitude. Telling off a 'bad' player will get you nowhere. Offering help MIGHT get you somewhere. Still not a guarantee, but what does yelling at someone solve besides getting out your frustration? It's not like it's really going to help because it's not going to change the outcome. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people on my team rage at one another for a loss. Sometimes it's justified (in that the person really was at fault), but most of the time it isn't. I just really dislike when people don't take my advice and there's literally nothing I can do about it besides hope I don't get paired with them again. (And by advice, I mean like... follow the marks someone is dutifully placing, don't take too many medals, etc.)

    Anyway, my rating's tanked today. I don't know if I should just wait until the weekday again or take further risks. Now I am understanding why people grind to 1k rating and sit there.
