How do you rotate furniture.

Sorry if this is a really silly question. I've got a chair I need to turn around and for the life of me I can't figure it out. I click on the Rotate button in the middle of the screen and I can turn it to the position I want, but I can't keep it that way. When I click on it or escape it goes back to its original position. Do I need to hit something to lock it to its new position? I'm on the PC version. Thanks!

I'm on gamepad but I'm pretty sure I just use the triggers and reset the item with 'A'. Your issue may be that you aren't placing the item again, just exiting out. Rotating furniture requires you to place the item when you finish.
