GCD timer is to high for melee and ranged physical dps.

I always wondered why i gravitated towards casters in this game. Then it hit me, the GCD timer makes everything without a cast time ridiculously slow and boring.Casting in the game feels fluid and natural, while melee classes have this weird awkward pause while attacking. I can feel it when I am playing Ninja or a tank. Many people that I've talked to that tried the game said their biggest gripe early on is the GCD timer. And I have to agree, physical dps like Ninja, which is supposed to be fast paced, is rather slow. Everything may as well have a cast time, because its essentially the same thing as a GCD timer. A black mage begins to cast fireI, GCD also starts at the same time, cast ends GCD also ends. Bard uses straight shot, its instantaneous(yes I know about wanderer's minuet) but the GCD prevents anymore action from being taken. The Bard is now at the same pace as the Black Mage due to this mechanic even though they do not have a cast time. The only difference are auto attacks, but auto attacks are kinda, meh and not very interactive.

Is it game shattering to reduce the GCD by 1-.5 seconds? The game could even be balanced around it. Its just so slow for the sake of being a final fantasy game.

There are many players who like it the way it is.

Asking for a new job with shorter GCDs would be more realistic.

This is an observation at max level with stats on par to clear seph ex? Cause otherwise you are comparing apples to oranges cause like any game, you aren't starting the game maxed out, you grow your character to that point.

If SE lowered the GCD that much they would have to lower tp cost of everyone's skills otherwise people in the game would run out of tp witching a minute or less.

A MNK at that GCD reduction would have near instant recovery from GCD at that point...

I like it the way it is personally. Weaving in CD's correctly balances it out.

many jobs rely on the GCD timer to weave OGCD skills into their rotation, its one of the reasons that I hate that they made BRD a caster, because it breaks the flow of this weaving. Something tells me that if this is your view of melee jobs, then you aren't playing those jobs correctly.

GCD is fine. Does every single game need to be SUPER FAST?! Stack your skill speed and you will see a difference

Most the time on monk my GCD is under 2 seconds, which meets the 0.5 second reduction mentioned, and I'm either moving or activating an oGCD ability almost constantly. So that feels pretty fast.

In the Alpha version of this game, the GCD timers were way too short, making it seem like a button mashing fest with abilities and was also unbalanced.
It was one of the biggest complaints during testing.
It would be game shattering since this would remove certain materia from the game and skill speed is no longer an attribute.
Not many casual players can press 30 buttons in .5 seconds for consistently high dps on a controller, so you will need a keyboard...but then you would need macros...

I mean ... I don't know about your experience with this kind of thing but, have you ever tried performing skills like this IRL?
You can't fire off things in such a way. And a -lot- of the skills have animations that last for the majority of their respective cooldown times, and look really weird when you use oGCD skills between them. (Yay going from a handstand to shoulder bash instantaneously!)

Which brings me to another point: The "fluidity" and "pace" of melee classes comes from the ability to easily inter-weave their Abilities between their Weaponskills, without causing any GCD-clipping (unless you're a ninja and have laggy 'net). Ever notice how your next Fire gets a small delay when you use Raging Strikes? None of that horrible standing around silliness with using Blood for Blood and Chaos Thrust, or Duality and Aeolian Edge, or Berserk and .........

Like a job that has lightning fast attacks that has a lower base GCD? Something like....a Ninja? ohwait.
