Blitzball is overrated...
We need Drownball.
While I loved blitzball in FFX, sunk a few hundred hours into it as a teen, I honestly wouldn't see it doing well on here unless it's a literal 1vs1 match with a friend, or against the computer A.I.
Personally I'd rather them do something like a final fantasy tactics minion minigame. So many people loved those games, and it doesn't get enough attention now.
Do we really need this though?, it would be dead in a week.
While I personally hated FFX and thought Blitzball was a horribly awful minigame, I could see one way for it to work. Let us build a Blitzball team roster and train them in a manner similar to our squadrons and then send them out to play against other player teams or enemy teams in some exciting cutscenes with the option to skip the cutscenes if we want to go straight to the results. Unlike our squadron though, let us have full customization over our players, the team names, uniforms, icons, cheerleaders, and mascots.
Blitzball is a real sport and we need to make good use of swimming and diving capability so there's no better chance to introduce such fun activity to Eorzea!...
Square Enix might have some excuses about it but they could do it in the end, have you noticed how weird characters swim underwater!?... They still need to work on the animations because so far it just looks half-boiled!...
Finally, we will get it????? Yes please.
The problem is that SE doesn't expand on its Gold Saucer minigames and I can't see them doing it for blitzball even if it was implemented. The potential for advanced triple triad, chocobo sky racing and other assortments of minigames that could be just doesn't seem to be on SE's agenda at the moment
