It doesnt seem like I can rearrange or remove my pet's abilities from the hot bar so how does one make their pet abilities MO macros to heal more conveniently?

Systems >> Character Configuration (default is 'K')
Hotbar settings >> Display Settings
The above will allow to you turn OFF your pet hotbar. The pet hotbar doesn't allow you to put your own macros on it or anything of the sort so if you get rid of it, it would be a good idea to make sure you have those necessary skills/abilities on your actual hotbars after turning it off! Of course, you can always keep that hotbar turned on AND have your skills macroed to your actual hotbar if you so choose, I personally find it a bit redundant having all those skills displayed twice but its hoenstly up to your playstyle and if you prefer it.
After that is sorted out you'll need to make your macros, Something along the lines of these should do. You can create your own macros by going to System >> User Macros
Once you've made one dragging and dropping that macro to your hotbar should work!
Also Embrace works on both pets even though I have the pet named typed in. Meaning if you have Eos written in your macro but currently have Selene summoned that Embrace mouse over macro should work for both.
Expect you may need to turn on additional hotbars for this class. Scholar, Summoner, and Mechanist (pet/turret classes) have probably the most skills available to use in this game so you'll probably need more room on these jobs specifically.
(End of the day this is my current hotbar on SCH-there are some PVP abilities thrown in there as well)

Lastly, this thread has a good amount of information on ways players go about controlling their pet. The beauty of it is there are multiple ways one can do so and ones that work better for your input method and playstyle. If you have the time I encourge to read through this thread because it does have quite a bit of good information out there!

I have a post towards the end laying out the way I have my macros set up. Located here~ http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...=1#post3522080
Best of luck to you and your scholarly studies!

Super helpful post! THANK YOU
So here is a basic macro I have for embrace
/micon Embrace pet Eos
/petaction "Embrace" <mo>
/petaction "Embrace" <me>
Is there a way I can get it to be a dual macro for Selene and Eos? The guide you linked says there is a way but copy/pasting those macros doesn't work and I am not well versed enough to understand where the issue is.
That macro you wrote out SHOULD still would for both Selene and Eos, The mini-icon will be what the Embrace looks like for Eos since you have "Eos" written in the macro line. It will also appear greyed out on your hotbar when you have Selene summoned BUT you still should be able to click the button you have that skill macroed too and it should still make Selene cast Embrace on whoever your telling her to.
Example:
You assign the above macro you wrote to activate when you click '2' on your hotbar.
You summon Selene.
Button '2' on your macro bar appears to be greyed out because it is the Embrace macro you wrote for Eos.
**Now heres the catch*** When you press '2' with Selene summoned the Embrace should still activate. Meaning it will still be greyed out but the mini countdown and This works for Embrace specifically because Eos and Selene share Embrace.
Does that clear that up? Or did you mean something else?

Yeah I think that makes sense!!
Another thing I was reading on that big thread you linked me was shared macros for disimilar spells. They both share embrace, but the other 3 spells are different. It seems as though you can write 1 macro that will be active for each pet but it will cast the spell specific to them in order to save space on the hotbar. The macros in the thread you linked me didnt seem to work and I couldnt edit them to make them mouse over.
In general, macro errors are not fatal. So if you have a line in there that doesn't work (because you don't have that pet summoned, for instance), that line will fail but it will continue to run subsequent lines.
As for being unable to get certain macros to work at all or with mouseover, let's pick one specifically that isn't working for you and take a look at precisely what you have in the macro and what happens when you try to use it.
So this one below:
/micon Fey Wind pet Selene
/petaction "Fey Wind" <mo>
/petaction "Fey Wind" <me>
It works however the icon for Fey Wind doesnt appear. Its jsut a blank button with the M on it and it doesnt show a cooldown or anything.
However the macro:
/micon Embrace pet Eos
/petaction "Embrace" <mo>
/petaction "Embrace" <me>
DOES show the spell icon correctly. But I cant figure out what the difference between them is.
Now this is the double macro I have for Fey Wind and Fey Illumination depending on which pet is out. It DOES work however similar to the others, the icon is now showing.
/micon Fey Wind pet Selene
/petaction "Fey Wind" <mo>
/petaction "Fey Wind" <me>
/petaction "Fey Illumination" <mo>
/petaction "Fey Illumination" <me>

I'm pretty sure two word skill names need to be in quotation marks. This would be looking for an icon called "Fey" rather than "Fey Wind" (which would be why it isn't finding it and leaving you with the default icon). Try:
/micon "Fey Wind" pet Selene
and see if that works better.
