If you've raised your gathering level above that of a given node, you can still go back and gather the item(s) yourself rather than spending the gil on the marketboard.
On the flip side, if you have not raised your gathering classes to that point, you can do so relatively easily, based on your complaint, and gather the stuff yourself.
Its all about the cost of time and the cost of money. Which is more valuable to you?
Thank god for gathering leves because if I had to level my botanist one more time I would've laid down and died.

Clearly, the best Final Fantasy character is Locke Cole.
Glamour is TRUE ENDGAME
Gathering levelling is reasonably fast anyway. I never used leves but had no problems.
You realize that, if leve experience is nerfed, then the solution for most people will not be "hit more low-level nodes," but instead "do more leves," right?
Not to mention that making it even more tedious to level the gathering classes will make fewer people take them up in the first place.

I don't quite understand how there would be a shortage if more people are gathering.
The implication is that certain lower-level crafting materials aren't being gathered as much because there aren't as many low-level gatherers gathering them, causing the prices on the market board to inflate. If it's profitable enough to gather it, though, people will do it to drive down the price. If the price is still high, that's usually indicative of that particular gathered item being of a relatively niche use (e.g. it's a recipe that's rarely crafted).
Using leves and the amount gained from them is fine though I personally would never use leves for DoL.
I always used my leve allowance on DoH leveling. As for prices of low level materials from gatherers, if demand is there even high level gatherers like myself will farm low level materials for the market board, you also benefit when there is a lack of low level gatherers gathering such materials because you can make more money filling that demand. Over time others will however see the demand exists and it will once again become flooded and leading to dramatic dropping of prices. Simple supply and demand, such is life but both high level and low level gatherers make use of that end of the spectrum...changing the leve EXP will not change that in any regard.
If anything I would say there is a slight issue with leve allowance in that since their implementation as a mechanic/gameplay system far more classes have been added to the game and the level cap raised so perhaps leve allowance should be also raised from 3 per 12 hours to 6 per 12 hours in order to balance this. Collectibles are good from 56 onward's to offer an alternative to leves when run out of allowance but that is in itself limited to being only possible and even worthwhile very late in the game level wise. GC turn ins are good but limited also to once per class per 24 hours so while might seem good amount for the effort of gathering or crafting the item for turning in, it is still overall very restricted by that time limit to balance it.

no just no.
It wouldn't be such a huge nerf since half your exp from them comes from the actual gathering.
