Hi,

I'm a new player to FFXIV and have recently also bought the expansion, after seeing that i had a fantasia potion in my inventory i figured i could use it to change my race to the expansion race, the Au ra, the problem is that once i log back in to the character screen the Au ra choice is greyed out, also for new characters if i try to create one.

Do i need to finish the main story line to unlock Au ra as a choice? As im still doing the level 40 quests of the story.

While im not sure why thats happeneing and cant really help on the main issue, what i can confirm is that you can use Au Ra from the begining so its not something to "unlock"

hopefully someone else might be able to deduce why its not working for you though

You need to finish the 2.55 content and have Heavensward purchased and unlocked to change to Au Ra.

Thanks, that very weird thing to do tho, and they dont reference it at all in the potion description. Guess ill change when im done with the main game.

Wait, my apologies, I don't think you need to finish the questline yet, you just need HW purchased and installed. Apparently the requirements to create an Au Ra aren't the same as unlocking the new classes.

I bought both the game and the expansion through steam, the expansion shows up as installed in the steam DLC page for the game, tho the starting screen for the game doesnt say heavensward or is in any way diferent from the normal FFXIV starting screen i've always had, apparently from the images i saw online it should be diferent?

it should be different, so you may need to check about the steam installs

I'm not too familiar with the Steam setup. Does Steam give you a code that you need to register with SE?

If you log into the Mog Station, does your SE account show you having the expansion unlocked?

In the game's launcher, click the Config button at the bottom. Ensure that "Expansion Auto-Installation" is set to "On."

Make sure you register HW through the mogstation as well. The launcher should say Heavensward.
