I don't think there will ever be enough demand for them to make a Linux client. However, you may still be able to find workarounds to play Windows games on a Linux system. Best of luck to you.
It would be a complete waste of time and resources. Gaming on Linux is a tiny market.
Then don't upgrade to 10. I just installed 7 on my new computer since it works fine.
Though I also know how to upkeep it so...yeah, but. Games aren't really on Linux ever so unless the whole of XIV population switches they aren't going to do it.

I'm an everyday Linux user so I'd love to see FF XIV ported but it's not realistic and it's not going to happen.
FF seems to run fine using WINE: https://appdb.winehq.org/objectManag...tion&iId=11717
You could also try to run it in a Windows virtual machine (with 3D acceleration enabled).
For the time being I'm just dual booting Windows 7 (for games only) and Linux (for everything else).

What does Windows 10 and Vulkan have to do with your demand on a Linux client? Is FFXIV exclusive to Windows 10? It is not. Vulkan is out but Vulkan is an API and nothing more. Games already made cannot be re-written on it. It's up on developers to use Vulkan or not use it for future games. FFXIV is completely unrelated to these. I don't think FFXIV will ever come to Linux due to low demand. Gaming on Linux is not a thing atm considering the market shares. There are some workarounds with Wine to get it run on Linux though. Linux may be a preferred platform to some people but we can all agree it is not for gaming yet. If something changes int he far future we never know but currently Linux is not a platform for gaming (lack of support, very low market share int he OS market, etc). If you don't want Windows 10 you can always install Windows 7 or 8. Or install both Linux and Windows on the same machine with dual boot.

If you don't want to upgrade to Windows 10 then don't. I'm still using Windows 7 Home Premium.

While I don't use Linux, wouldn't be a bad idea to have a Linux version. But knowing SE, should they release a Linux version, you'd have to buy a separate licence, just like if you have the PC verison & want the Steam version
