    MCH Gauss Barrel and weapon Delay

    herro

    Recently I have been trying to delve into the more subtle nuance of MCH, stance dancing.
    To my understanding weapon delay is how frequently auto attacks go off. My question is does the weapon delay algorithm still claculate in the background while guass barrel is on? Or does it reset ever time you turn it off? Any help is appreciated, as i am trying to do the math and see if there is a point when i would normaly turn gauss off, to just leave it on becuase it falls on the point in the algorithm where dps loss occurs do to the GCD to Auto Attack ratio is imbalanced.
    Thanks in advance.

    Gauss Barrel turns auto attacks off so nothing will happen once applied. In the instance of stance dancing when removing Gauss Barrel it will reset into the weapon's auto attack delay so if it say 2.66s it will start at that tic after the Gauss Barrel has been turned off.

    i don't think that's 100% correct

    @op

    to my understanding, auto attacks work like this

    as you are in normal stance (without gauss barrel), if you are not auto attacking a target, your auto attack charges itself and primes itself. so if you wait the full delay of the weapon's auto attack delay, upon initiating auto attack (ie via weaponskill/ability or anything), you'll immediately fire off an auto attack. once your auto attacks on a target are initiated, it cycles through the attacks until you are unable to auto attack; then at that point it keeps going until it's primed for an auto attack, or until you meet the conditions to start auto attacking once again

    when you are in gauss barrel and in combat though, your auto attacks will continue cycling as if they existed, regardless of if you are actually able to auto attack or not (range, facing the target, auto-attacking on or off etc). because there is no priming type of mechanism in combat, effectively you are only able to control when your autos come (when you take GB off that is), by having an idea of where in the cycle your autos currently are.

    Kinda reminds me of the old rogue energy ticks in WoW. Basically your resource was 100 'energy' and it regenerated in discrete ticks of 20 every 2 seconds, that's 1/5th of your max resource per tick, so as you can imagine it was very chunky.

    The timing of the regen tick continued to cycle as normal even when you're at full energy, so it lead to very frustrating situations where if you started attacking at the 'wrong time' of the tick, you might have to wait 1.99 seconds to get your next tick, vs almost immediately if you were lucky. Until the code behind it got improved (1 energy per 0.1 seconds instead, much smoother and can't be cheesed), people would run mods that showed you the ongoing cycling position of the tick so you knew when was the best time to attack.

    This was my initial hypothesis but I wasn't sure if it was right or if i was having latency while testing. Thank you so much for the insight.
