    Thoughts on gear wear?

It seems like from ARR to Heavensward the rate at which gear wears has increased a LOT. I was used to this for awhile but then I decided to finish off my Zodiac weapons and now I'm seeing something that's a bit silly.

I seem to repairing my gear just as frequently spamming runs of Sastasha/Tam-Tara for light as I do running Alex Midas sections for weekly drops.

Is gear wear scaled at all to the level of the content, or is it just solely based on the amount of activity you/your party is involved in (I once had my accessories break WHILE FLYING to a FATE while I was with a crystal farming party)?

Maybe I'm being short-sighted, but I wish gear wear scaled to the type of activity being done. Something seems off about my gear being torn to shreds by mobs that barely tick me for 30 damage per auto-attack.

Could be a money sink due to the fact Heavensward gives so much gil. I'm not sure though, correct me if I'm wrong. I think gear wear is pretty stupid anyway.

It's based off kills/exp earned, as well as being KOed.
You can take all the hits to the chest as you'd like, but the gear won't suffer until you die, or kill the things hitting you.

Gear wear happens when enemies die and YOU die.

Yes your party members' kills count as wear even if u arent in combat.

Eh its fine. No need to overcomplicate it just so it logically makes sense to anyone who has different opinions.

I dont think the gea wear is worse compared to ARR unless of couse you are implying that we wipe more in savage which id kinda agree especially Gordias.

It's how it was explained to me a ways back. As you killed things worth more exp, your gear took a bigger hit compared to some dinky mob not worth their salt.

However, to be fair, I haven't tested that and I don't know how true it ended up being, or if it still works that way.

My gut is telling me it isn't this way, since at max level you're gaining 0 xp per kill. I've not noticed any significant decrease in the rate at which gear wears between a max level and one that is still leveling.
