    The catch up leveling thread

Weird thread, I know. I was just here wondering as I'm a few quests away now from starting 3.0 and switching to machinist for my main job, what's the fastest and least painful way for me to level to 50 from 30 so I can actually play my new expansion instead of immideatly leaving it after switching jobs?

Thank you for listening to my rambling stupidity.

Leveling roulette every day, levequests(grab a lvl60 buddy and invite them in party so they can cheese the quests for you and you get full exp for it), fate grinds, repeated dungeon runs, challenge log for exp bonuses, etc.

For gear upgrades, I would do every 5 to 6 levels: level 35, 40, 45, etc.

    Is it reset Tuesday yet.

I question whether I'm playing a PvE game with PvP mixed in, or I am I playing a PfG.

For me, leveling roulette daily. When I get to the minimum levels I spam Brayflox from 32 to 44, at which point I spam Dzmael Darkhold until level 50. The reason I pick those two dungeons is because they have the shortest queue times. And spam FATEs in between queue times.

I LIKE the fence. I get 2 groups to laugh at then.

The Challenge Log definitely - which means not forgetting about Leves~

Personally I only do as many instanced dungeons as the Challenge log requires.

I can't say avoiding dungeons like I did is most efficient, but I find them exhausting to the point where I just don't feel up to grinding after so many runs. (IMHO just hate doing a dungeon for an alt's XP and then be paired with a group that takes it slow, or D/C's // someone drops, etc etc)

Is your bird leveled? The right Leves can be very fast XP with a good Companion. There's the bonus from guildhest that's worth making each one doing too.

That's my advice anyway.. Try spreading it around. Try to find some good Leves for your level. Costa D Sol's Leve's aren't all THAT great, but the GC Leve-giver in Dragonhead has the boss type Leve, I spammed that a lot I recall.
edit: When Fate-grinding, r-e-a-l-l-y want to be taking down Cancer (It's not Lupis), the Cyclops in Dragonhead, Gorgi in North Thanalan everytime those Fates pop.

If there's not enough people to beat those Fates, might want to try doing something else to level and come back later when there's enough bodies taking those better Fates on (or recruit through PF/LSs).

Skipping those big Fates is missing out on a lot of XP

The vast majority of mine was leveled via FATEs as a tank and healer. Most people that run them are DPSers who don't really like being beaten on, so you'll never be unappreciated. It's stuff like that that keeps me leveling. Doing solo leves and quests gets dull after a while, very monotonous. Motivation starts to go bye-bye.

I guess in your case, as a DPSer, see if you can find someone tanking/healing and see if they want to group up. That'll make things go a lot faster, with less stress, and more fun.

    Do the:

    - Daily Leveling Roulettes.
    - Complete the following sections of the Challenge logs: Guildhest, Levequest, Fates and Dungeons.
    - Queue for a dungeon that is close to your level and do FATES while waiting for the queue. If you find a big FATE group, dont do the dungeon and stick with them, likewise if there is no activity, do FATES solo while being in a queue for a dungeon.

These are the things that you need to have or consume:
    - When doing Levequests, take your chocobo with you, for fast kills.
    - Always have a food buff on you. The golden saucer sells food for cheap price.
    - If you are in a FC, ask your FC members to activate the combat EXP buff.

I did all my roulette that levelled me up each day and it took little time to get most my classes to level 60, as long as you don't try to push it too much, it won't feel like much of a chore. Only jobs not at 60 are my melee's and I don't really play those much. If you are committed to grinding dungeons, definitely consider the FC EXP buff and eat some food, it may not feel like much, but it adds up quite nicely. If you have a queue, put in some FATES or some Leves.

I wouldn't worry much about gear, grab stuff from your GC and any stuff you get in dungeons, that will keep you adequately up to date at all times.
