Channels RMT

Please do something to stop the RMT (Real Money Traders) spam in the tell channel, I am sure there is something that can be done, i.e. look for excess traffic on the tell channel, one person sending out lots of tells to random people should be easy to track, and no i do not think i should have to log player, message, time & locations to help bust the annoying spammers.

If you want to down vote this, give a reason and hopefully some other positive idea on how to deal with this.

I get tells withing one minute of logging into game, and i do not want to flag myself as busy. I used to blacklist them till i filled up my blacklist, now i try to ignore them.

I am looking forward to getting tells in game from my friends and not RMT's.

I don't get why people say this problem cant be solved, its easily fixable. Give us the option to only allow Tells from friends. and then after that give us an option to turn off friend requests.

Might as well give up on the request for SE to break out the banhammer on RMT. This is probably the 346587346587634875648376th thread requesting more action to be taken against RMT, and there have been zero community mod responses to any of those 346587346587634875648376 threads. Not trying to be a downer. I'm just as sick of the RMT plague as you are and I've posted my feelings about it in the other threads requesting action to be taken, I even created a thread myself, but it's all been quite the futile effort on the part of us forum posters.

They could also fix it to the extreme like they did in XI a couple of years ago (which XI never really had a tell spam problem... lol)

Spam Filter, rejects tells if someone copies/pastes text. Works to block rmt, but hurts players at the same time if they're trying to send a link or something to a friend.

XI did for a bit, but it was years after the game was released. (Spam tells also went away when the game started to really die off.)

Even if you report people, they don't always do anything about it. I reported someone who was spamming in /say in the middle of Limsa, even got a response to my report. 8 hours later, they were still there, spamming every minute on the dot without fail.

Macros would bypass that, but there have been several suggestions that would drastically reduce the amount of RMT tells. If anything is proof that it's possible, people have been filtering RMT for ages with guildworks.

I like that you actually used the exact same number twice. And you're right, much as it annoys us all, the response to these long standing RMT issues has been pretty much zero so far...
