thank you for all the updates today! :3Greetings,
The matching system for the Feast is currently working as intended. Yoshi-P touched on how matching for the Feast is handled in a previous post.
With that said, while we cannot promise any changes, we have relayed your feedback to the dev. team to see if further adjustments can be made to the matchmaking system so that players at similar tiers are matched better.
Thank you for the acknowledgement and relaying our concerns to the dev team.

Can we get actual tiers? I think the current problem is that we only really have five ranks at the moment (Bronze and unranked might as well be the same thing IMO). If you make matchings really tight, then queues suffer, because Silvers are looking for Silvers... If you don't do that... You only have five ranks to play around with, you're not going to match people well like that... The result is what we currently have, where matchings are typically unbalanced and thus unfun...
Adding tiers to each rank would give you more points to play with... Suddenly, when you say "We'll match you within three ranks", that isn't so bad... If we're going Bronze > Bronze 2 > Bronze 3 > Silver > etc., then you'd be matching us much more closely than currently... Right now if I'm at Silver for example, I'm potentially matched with unranked players and Platinum players, that's really bad... If I was at Silver 2 instead? Keep the same three point difference, but now I'm matched with anything from Bronze 2 to Gold 2. That is much more likely to be within my skill level than what we currently have, which is effectively playing with the very worst or the very best...

I don't think it is broken as much as it shouldn't be this way. also, people showing games where you have two silvers vs a team full of silvers could mean that you are on the high end of silver and they are near the bottom, that is like a 400 point difference.
I was like ~880 rating silver as a healer and got matched up with THREE unranked teammates. You tell me where is the justice in that.

I think that's exactly how the system is built to create a STEEP uphill climb for anyone attempting to progress past Silver.
Every time I get near my gold qualifier, I get a lot of games with unranked people (probably due to what Aviars said -- the system is averaging the points for matchmaking, not really the ranks as a whole... in this sense, the ranks are irrelevant and the numbers are what matter). I've been hovering around 800ish for a week. I can't really say any of my losses were explicitly my fault, though I am always 'okay' with close games because at least the teams gave each other a good match. What I don't like is getting slaughtered because the teams are clearly at different levels of skill. I notice these two scenarios as the most likely to happen:
1) We get slaughtered because our healer is new. In addition to not really knowing how to PvP heal, they might not have PvP abilities set up or understand how arena works. I've lost a few games today because the new healers were clearly uncomfortable with the environment and game mode. You can sometimes push through this IF your dps/tank is REALLY on point... but what ends up happening is we'll get a Bronze in the mix, too, and the damage is simply not enough to carry the new healer.
2) We can't down anyone because the other DPS is new and/or our tank doesn't really understand the importance of stun-locking someone or generally being annoying to casters. (Thus, the enemy healer has no trouble keeping someone alive.) Even if the other team doesn't have an easy time landing a kill, they will outlast us simply based on our inability to down someone ourselves.
Now, when it comes to uneven matchups, the above scenarios can happen to either team... So the game feels less about 'skill' and more about 'who was the unlucky one this round'. I personally just had a game against an unranked healer. It was an absolute massacre -- we destroyed them. That didn't feel fun to me, really. It was more like... "Well, I'm glad I wasn't on that team..."
Although I'd always prefer to win, I don't ever feel a sense of frustration when I lose against people of similar skill levels (as long as everyone is playing their best)... because at least it felt exciting and like we were really putting our skills to the test. Also, it's during matches like this that I'll actually learn something and become better as a player by witnessing more competitive play.
Of course... I know, I know. Solo queues are meant to throw you in with random people... and yes, it's harder to coordinate with randoms... but the matchmaking has got to change. I've seen several people who had a lot of difficulty getting over that Gold 'hump' because of the problems described above.
Took me FIVE promotional qualifiers because of that nonsense. Amusingly enough, I actually managed to get my third and final victory, with a healer who walked in with the first match achievement. They were.... decent. I was just lucky enough that my co-DPS and tank descended on the kill targets like a pack of angry wolves.Of course... I know, I know. Aether's match thrower? You mean someone's gotten a reputation for being a prick doing that kind of stuff? Well, this is the internet after all, so I shouldn't be surprised. The only solace I've found is that problems like that solve themselves. He wants that reputation, but it's exactly that kind of reputation that will get him banned shortly. I really don't know what's wrong with people doing things like that, when it only makes them easier to pick out and remove.
