I think it's more that some of those assuming the worst would still find it playable if only due to branding.
Those assuming nothing at all want what they once enjoyed (thinking it'll somehow be nearly the same).
Those hoping the best want it for what new gameplay components it could potentially introduce, which may happen to include certain classics as well.
