Samurai dps please, having two tanks basically using 2h swords would just be a bad joke. I think Blue Mages should be tanks, but thats just me. Red Mage I honestly can't see them being anything but dps... Not a whole lot of FF staples that can be healers.

The game will most likely call the Samurai weapons, "great katanas" to distinguish them for players, but real Samurai weapons are simply "katanas," so if you wanted to balance job choices in this manner, one could argue that DPS already have a katana wielder.

Needless to say, I don't think this should be a factor when deciding.

It's an odd situation, while we need tanks, having all these 2h users tanking really screws over people who want to play a 2h dps and get shoved into dragoon... as for the DPS the Katana weilder uses dual daggers, just because the eso look like wakizashi doesn't really make it so. Personally I would love another shield using class or a dual wield tank, maybe blue mages with dual sabers?

Though at the same time I don't think a new tanking class will really add players to it, because at the end of the day, if you want to tank you tank. A lot of players don't enjoy that playstyle.

Thing is having all asian inspired jobs being DPS seems a bit out of balance. It could be said Doma fell due to a lack of Tanks Healers (which is kinda funny). The reason the guy with the sword is usually the the Tank is because the swordsman stands in front to issue the challenge. There is also the issue of a Samurai in Erozea already.
