    Hotbar Profiles

I would really like to see some sort of ability to save our hotbar settings (ie. which we have shown, where they are, what is on them, etc.) to a profile or something so that if we wanted to do PvP or something, we could create another profile and have bars for whatever activity it was.

For instance, I do mostly all PvE and all of my hotbars are set and pretty full for this type of play, however, I do like to PvP sometimes, but since I have to use the same bars as I have for PvE, I am either forced to remove some of my skills to add PvP skills or not use any PvP skills and stick to what I come in with.

I think this would be something that would help and be a nice quality of life change b/c as far as I know, this is not something that can be done currently.

You can use macro's to change ability's on a hotbar which would do what you want.

Say you use 4 hotbars for pve and 4 hotbars for pvp. You use none of your pvp hotbars on your pld when pve and reverse.
To start setup your pve hotbars on your pld. Say they are 1 2 3 4.

    Type:
    /chotbar copy pld 1 gld 1 (if on ps4)
    /hotbar copy pld 1 gld 1 (pc)
Where pld is followed by the hotbar number of the pld's hotbars and gld is the hotbar number of the copy destination.

What this is doing is storing your plds hotbars as a sort of saved back up that a macro will use to easily allow you to switch between them.

Repeat after you setup your pvp hotbars but this time make the destination gld 5-8

chotbar copy pld 1 gld 5 (if on ps4)
    /hotbar copy pld 1 gld 5 (pc)

Now you can make two separate macros, one for pvp and one for pve.
    Pve
    /chotbar copy gld 1 pld 1
    (/hotbar if pc)
    Repeat until all are mentioned

    Pvp:
    /chotbar copy gld 5 pld 1
    Again repeat.

This is just a sort of structure. You may need to borrow some slots from a crafter or another base class if you use more than 4 hotbars each profile.

Niiiice, I hadn't thought of paste-ing from another job/class the base class hotbar set. And indeed this has been my issue as well!

I started on a controller, wanting to switch to keyboard for forever but I hated the idea of butchering my controller setups - I couldn't move away from it due to the exact problem your post solves.

    Will do this, thanks

edit: will have to test for job/pet abilities,

    edit2: to OP's suggestion,

action swap macros can be limited due to the sheer amount of syntax need and you can place macros onto hotbar/crossbar slot.

hotbar/crossbar swap macros are cause problems like the one I'm having, where I use so many hotbars for crossbar storage that I can't switch to keyboard play without butchering my crossbar setups.

Will try the work around, but I think profiles would definitely be nice

Hot bars are also saved with your gear sets. If you don't feel like macroing, you could make a pve and a PvP version.

That's not true (at least not on ps4), to test it note your current hotbar setup. Switch to another class. Equip the first jobs weapon. If it's the same as the one you noted, it is job/class dependent.

The only way to do this properly the way you want, use ps4 for pvp and pc for pve xD

It's the only way to completely skip using macros

I suppose another method is to save a UI back-up, rename it, create a new UI, store that one as well.

But you'd have to logout, load the alternate UI, and reboot FFXIV every time you wanted to swap (windows), not a very practical work around. But that's what I think I'll end up having to do. /grumble

SE mentioned at one point the work-around they are considering for expanding the amount of macro modules. Instead of 100 macros limit per Character, a player could have access to all macros across all characters on the account regardless of which Character they're logged in as.

Maybe they could do a similar work-around for creating UI profiles (since each 'character/avatar' is a different profile, essentially).
