If a tank has 4 stacks of medals...

Do you pick up any more? Or should any tank with 4 stacks just keep fighting and have the medals despawn.

There's been situations where I'm the only one who's close by to pick them up, or leave them.
Also I have a tough time even using party chat saying I have 4 stacks I can't pick up any more medals, and watched 2 of my teammates stand right by a bag of medals till it despawned.

WHY!!!!! Makes me so mad. What should I or any other tank do ideally?

Pick up to 200 max, and make a macro that says you can't pick up any more, asking for others to pick them up. Once you hit 200, use your macro.

Accident happen (don't worry the kind folks in your party will alert you if you mess up xD) , but the goal is 200 and no more. Even paladins get all squishy at that point. If you don't get them in 5 seconds they despawn , however if you are at 200 that isn't your fault. Good players will share your burden!

There's no point in picking up excessive stacks unless the game is about to end and u feel confident you can kite if need be to retain the medals and run out the clock. If its the middle of a match with like 5 minutes to go and you are already at 4 stacks nothing you can do but just let em despawn if your teammates wont pick em up. You did your job already if you're at 4 stacks. Picking up anymore with significant amounts of time left just opens the door to seesaw games of going back and forth since no one will be able to retain those large stacks unless the opposing dps are incompetent and not focusing you (which can happen but I wouldnt exactly count on it).

Speaking of accidents, it's really difficult to keep track of the enemy's coins if you have a smaller resolution due to how big the UI window is. I ended up the other day killing a Black Mage who had quite a few coins, I was at 100, and they dropped over 150, taking me from 0 stacks to 10 stacks. The healer blamed me, but I was without information, and even if I had that information, I would have grabbed those coins anyway, since I, as a tank, am the one most likely to survive.

It's situational but you usually shouldn't get more than 4 stacks.
4 stacks is 48% extra damage, that's when I go into my tanking stance.

even a LB can kill you at 4 stacks, don't take more, it's clearly the MAX you can afford

Personally, I'm done at 4 stacks. I tried to do more than that and it just A. isn't fun to do hide and seek. B. Didn't bring me any more wins. If it's against good DPS, I'll even go tank stance at 4 stacks.

So I would heavily advice not going more than 4 stacks. That is the ONE good thing from this meta, it definitely made it so you had to move your stacks around more.
