Palace of the Dead

A new type of dungeon was announced during PAX, coming in 3.35: bottomless dungeon with changing layout. It is said that the Palace of the Dead is somewhere in the Black Shroud. Any speculations about possible entrances?

No idea where the entrance might be, they may just reuse Tam-Tara or Toto-Rak.

I'm more interested in the potential "final" boss... Edda, right? She fell into a bottomless pit and now we're entering an bottomless dungeon... Still, I secretly hope a new Primal/Voidsent might be sitting around there... Ivalice Espers are getting an infuriatingly odd handling (some are Primals, others are Voidsent... ARGH!), but with Cu being a Voidsent in Void Ark, I expect Exodus to get similar treatment now... My previous theory was that the Allag called the Twelveswood the Forest of Moore, and since they sealed away lots of Primals, Exodus might be sealed away there... Yay FFV references! Lets just change that to the old Gelmorran/Amdapori name for the Twelveswood was the Forest of Moore, and somewhere in this dungeon Exodus is waiting...

Oh, and because the progression system seems to take a leaf from Nyzul Isle, and the stats system seems to take a leaf from Salvage, I'm half expecting Einherjar to worm its way in there... This palace is in the Twelveswood, where Odin likes to stomp around...

I wonder if it's Gelmorran or Amdapori in design design/ architecture? I'm leaning more toward Amdapori due to how the torches and as well as that boss arena looks very Amdapori.

Assuming it's from Amdapor, it confirms they worshipped Nophica, at least.

It's also possible that this area could have been a later Amdapori creation/ proto-Gelmorran? Built before the flood and acted more like a shelter during times of war?

As for the entrance, I wonder if it's that one underground Gelmorran ruin (where we did a quests for those duskwight archaeologists) just outside Buscaroon Druthers? Maybe it's the Gelmorran ruins in the North Shroud where A-Towa Can is buried? It does have alot of doors that could be potential entrances

In the Peacegarden where the Dullahans are there is a slightly open door. The Dullahans of the area are also specifically mentioned to have broken free of the seals keeping them trapped for their crimes in the fate for them there.

The only thing saying this wouldn't be it though is that even low level players can do this apparently, and since it starts at lvl 1 I assume even lvl 1 players can do it. Making them go into a lvl 40 area for the entrance might be a bit much.

The most obvious one is this door at the northern-most area in North Shroud by Proud Creek:



My 2nd guess is in the Issom-Har ruins area in South Shroud, it is "recently discovered" after all, and that place is basically an archaeological dig:



My last (and probably least-likely) guess is in Spirithold in Central Shroud. It is a crypt after all, isn't it? If it was by Tam-Tara that'd just be boring. Also, there's this sealed-off door in the back, but I assumed it goes all the way to the cave-hole by the waterfall near Bentbranch:

I would hope it starts out Gelmorran, then eventually you stumble into an Amdapori section... Sort of a "We dug to deep..." moment, perhaps thats part of why Gelmorrans eventually learned to communicate with the Elementals? Either they found something horrifying down there left over from the War of the Magi and went "Nope!" and ran back to the surface, or they found something from Amdapor that helped them communicate...

Spirithold is actually a pretty good guess. Its a low level little area, has minor Voidsent inhabiting it and currently doesn't have much of a presence in anything. Only time you had to go there was for an early part of the Gridania-players starting story.

This sounds a lot like Nyzul, but I'm extremely skeptical; I already expected too much from Diadem only to be utterly disappointed.

Not sure if you know this Nailen, but evidence strongly support the idea that the remaining survivors of Amdapoar, were thr true founders of Gelmorra. At first was only made to be to scape from the surface, before it become an habitable city many years after.
