Gender Unlocked Gear Requests (PAX East Panel)

Then my request is please make the cosplay outfits (Scion gear, FFXII gear, etc) unisex, as well as their hairstyles. I honestly don't see why male characters can't have Lightning's hair or Y'shtola's hair, especially when female characters can wear Aymeric's hair for example.

Simple, Minfilias gear would need to be redesigned for males because it is entirely designed around a bust being present, same with the Lyse gear for that matter. I want unisex gear, but I fully understand that these outfits are originally designed around a gendered model, and some really wouldn't work without redesigns, and for the sake of fairness (because the ones that don't work are female) they are all genderlocked.

Hairstyles though, why not.

I would be satisfied with the breast-covering pieces of both outfits just being absent on men (in Minfilia's case the white part could be joined up like the Elezen hempen top or made into a basic crop top like some of the swimwear). It's the easiest solution, just deleting some polygons, and (especially in Lyse's case) still gives us a nice, unique set of items to use since open-fronted jackets and shorts are like gold dust. I'd love Minfilia's hair, too.

The 'NPC outfits have to respect the NPC's gender' rule is frequently broken for girls (Aymeric's hair, all of the male FF character veteran outfits). They only started enforcing it on the cash shop to shut us all up about the inequality in the first place :/

Lyse doesn't really seem to have a bust, easiest way to make it male is just remove that binding and then it will a jacket version of the open moonfair shirt we got a while back

And if they're morally opposed to having men run around in booty shorts they can widen and lengthen hers a little to make them our first-ever mid-thigh shorts without slits, holes, or doo-dads attached to them.

SE is really backwards with locking stuff. If it isn't discriminatory, it's arbitrary. Either make equal numbers of gear or give everyone the same stuff with the necessary alterations. Jeez.

Just thought I would necro-thread this thread, seeing as we're finally get the Male Bunny Suits sometime in the 4.3x cycle. >w>

I was initially a little unhappy with the final design for the male bunny suit, and I'm withholding final judgement until I can actually try it on my character, but after mulling it over I think I'm pleased with the result. A 1:1 unlock may not be the most flattering thing they could do, but it's the most fair, which is ultimately better.

Now that we've got this, though, I hope they'll get to work on some of the other requests that have been made. Muy main worry now is that they might think just releasing the bunny suit will 'shut us up ' or something and we'll end up right back where we started.

The Spring Trousers from Gold Saucer's fashion report are far cuter on females as shorts than they are on males. Couldn't we have had two versions of them? Men can wear short shorts too!

You know... things like this wouldn't "take excessive time and resources" if they just didn't bother with the restrictions in the first place; like any sane developer would opt to do. Same goes for class restrictions on glamour, they waste time creating new items of existing pieces when they could just go in and remove the restriction on a universal level; which is probably much easier than making a brand new piece with the same blasted model every time.
