This is a bit odd yea, I guess this Paladin won't be casting any magic, maybe one of the questable skills is a healing spell though.

Something about the explanations I've read feel uncomfortably like housing provision might be under Free Companies' control, or in some other way limited to the players able to deploy the most resources.

After writing the script i wondered about that as well. We asked him after free company housing after all, don't get your hopes up for your own houses yet, im quite positive that this will be under free company control.

But something could got lost due to the interpreters translation...

As for dragoon being a critical hit master dependent on successfully carrying out a combo move, that sounds more like something a monk would do. Unless the combo was between the dragoon and wyvern then I would be a happy girl.

The housing description sounds exciting. I just hope that we can openly invite friends into our homes. Always kinda bugged me during my time with XI that you could be married to someone but lived in different houses that neither could visit the other's home.

I forget where, but I do remember reading that Yoshi wants all of the battle classes to be combo based. So that means DRG will get combos to perform crit damage while MNK will get combos for something else.
