Your funny, embarassing, mistakes and weaknesses as a new player

When Titan HM was the relevant content and everyone was doing it for their relic... I was a PLD, and was OT for my friend who was on WAR. He and our friends were bringing me out for my relic as I was a couple weeks behind. I figured I'd use cover on him during the tank buster Mountain Buster... you know, when that actually took out a good 70% of your HP. Figured, it'll be funny to see him wonder why he didn't take any damage from it, and it'll keep a bit of stress off the healers.

Well, I was right, it was funny... What actually happened however was that when I covered him, I also accidentally stepped in front of said Mountain Buster. So not only did I eat his, I also ate my own. I think I took a total of roughly 10k damage. Instant death. Was glorious. We wiped because everyone was laughing too hard due to the MT going "Why are you dead? What happened? WHY DOES THE BATTLE LOG SAY YOU TOOK 10K DAMAGE?!"

It's an often brought up story now between us. Good times.

Back when I was new, I'd use Regen on tanks all the time. I wanted to keep Regen up 24/7 -falls over-. That was until a tank explained that I was just generating agro and making things hard.

I also remember a time when I got too excited Stoneing the enemy that I forgot I was the healer, and thus tank ended up dying -sweatdrops-. I'm not proud of that memory ;

Over-Ambitious Healing: Never let Regen drop. Waste a heal on a fully-healed tank. Get attacked due to Aggro. Oops!
Under-Geared: I still have a bad habit of this, but I try to make sure I am at least geared-ish for the content / level I am at.
Overly-Social: Not everyone wants to talk. Learn to accept it XD

This was my first MMO (still is). A friend nagged and nagged on me to try it. I said I was afraid of online play, I had played mostly mario and zelda. My friend got me to try. I picked archer as my first class. I got to sastasha. Ran it with my friend's FC (she invited me asap when I joined the game XD ). I thought this was a standard JRPG. I just ran ahead and tried to kill stuff. Got told in party chat "let the tank pull". I answered "ok!" but I was just too afraid to ask what a tank is XD We cleared sastasha. Somehow... My friend then told me the tank is the guy with the blue icon and they grab the mobs....

when I first started playing, I played black mage, I just cast blizzard 1 repeatedly, I never used fire as it used up MP and I saw no reason why I should use it when I can just use blizzard all the time which cost no MP, I didn't understand how the class worked and how I needed to alternate between blizzard and fire, it took me a few levels before I worked it out.

For months after i first start playing ARR, i was convinced camp bluefog, was actually camp bluefrog.

It wasn't till an fc member of a new fc asked me where camp blue frog was since i kept mentioning it, i told him and he pointed out it was fog not frog.

We argued for almost 10 mins before he told me open the teleport window and spell it out for him. >.< (the sheepish silence aftewards was deafening) LOL
