This game needs better DPS feedback

We've heard many times why Yoshi doesn't want to officially allow DPS meters. Fine. But we need more feedback than SSS. Anyone who's been through Duty Finder knows this. An alarming percentage of level 60 DPS still don't know how to play, and this game is doing nothing to help them. Other players aren't allowed to tell them they're doing badly because of feelings and ToS. The game needs to do it. Stop lowering the bar every time someone fails and start giving people feedback instead.

They are things that can and will help you. First, you need to look for the best rotation, then head to sky, seas, and earth training grounds; GiT GuD. Finally, one must practice your mechanics for any fight, read or watch guides for what every they suit your learning style. If you want more personal Feedback you can always DPS your self by hand.

Now if you can get 8 people together and do it that way, you have a static. FYI

That is what we would hope every fledging dps would do, however some well most...are just ignorant to how poorly they do.

If you entered a duty in your shiny i230 weapon with lore armour and then saw at the end of the fight a player with a i200 weapon absolutely smashed your dps as the same class, maybe then these players would question their own playstyle or ask how the good dps did it.

I really love it when farming Alex and I see level 50 dps >¿<

The majority of players are bad and they don't care to get better.

Most DPS jobs in this game are very straight forward, and can easily be figured out with a simple reading of tooltips and common sense. However most people just don't care enough to give even that and will just hit whatever button looks the coolest.

No amount of hand holding or feedback will fix people like this, I bet none of those terrible DPS you see in duty finder have even done SSS, or maybe even know what it is. Same would happen if they added more things. So I believe SSS is plenty.

MMORPGs generally don't tell you literally every little thing you need to do to maximize DPS. Part of the genres appeal is for people to figure it out for themselves, hence why guides and addons are even a thing. WoW in the last several years added a semi-guide to how to play your role and spec in the abilities/spell book. It's a decent start, but it doesn't help as much as people may think.

Truth be told, unless they're completely fresh to the idea of video games (which some people are), they'll have an idea of the fact there's a proper way to play. As surprising as it may be to some, even offline games have walkthrough and guides, which has been a thing for decades. In most cases, you don't need exact tellings or measurements, like with DPS meters, to perform decently at this point in the game... you really don't. Most of us will perform decently, at the very least, if we were to follow a guide or the help from people who do... or put 2 and 2 together when reading the tooltip. Of course, those meters would certainly be nice to figure out the rotation, but we already have a means for that obviously.

I'd wager the majority of people who don't even perform decently, are the folks who could not give less of a damn whether or not there were in-game means to learn. No amount of help, besides autoplaying the game for them, will change that attitude. Some would gladly quit before they're told how to play, since that involves taking time (even seconds) to read through text of something they do not care about. Those people are the ones you're probably referring to the most.

Nothing will change the way they choose to do things at this point... short of introducing something like the SSS as personal roadblocks to content. Even then though, expect a fair amount of players to pass that then halfass whatever it is they're doing. Laziness is a thing, even for the very best players out there. I would not be surprised however if even some of the "good" players begin frothing at the mouth in anger that the game is gating them by questioning their godliness lol.

Stone, Sky, Sea is their answer to dps parseer players have demanded to get. It is a take it or leave it kind of thing.

But we need it to be REQUIRED. You wanna do the fight? Just complete the SSS. Maybe mitigate values to under 10% of actual, for not-really-optimized people. Solved.

I must have all the best of luck because 9/10 times I use the DF, I always get above average- excellent dps paired with me.

It's quite probable that a hefty amount of the people who complain about low DPS (or any random player in general) are the sorts who are either not looking at the situation the player is in, they're putting themselves in a situation that would have fresh players, or their idea of good DPS is ridiculous. I can think of several people I've met in this game that fit the bill of one or more of those. I'm talking the sort of people that go into Sastasha normal and expect a PLD to hold threat against DPS that go all out. Or perhaps people that are in full highest tier tome gear complaining after seeing a DPS do low numbers but not noticing the person is in i150 or so gear cuz yah know... Hmm, well it's more that in expert roulette DPS are pulling significantly less than what they are able to. The highest random person's overall DPS for the entire run I have seen is 1100. The highest DPS of my friends I have seen is 1300. The DPS that I bring on my alternate SMN (ilvl 214) is 1500. The median DPS I see is 800. I've seen maybe ~4 people ever above 1000, and have actually seen more DPS pull less than 750.

That means, on my alternate in less than max gear, I pull 187.5% of the median DPS. The highest DPS I have seen achieved 73% of my damage output. I have seen more people who do less than half of my DPS than I have seen do above 66%.

Now, I don't expect everyone to pull 1500+ DPS in expert roulette, I feel that I do put in more effort than most people in to playing my class well. That said, I feel that at the very least people should be pulling 1200+ as a median, with the lower end near 1000.

Using this information, I am not picking on individuals who may have extraneous circumstances. These are an average, median and max of all DPS that I have run into (mostly went on my SCH so 2 dps per run) since 3.2 launched in February (2 months ago).
