You Sir win this entire thread LOL!

But Seriously, Its a battle within itself to determine when it is safe enough to help damage.. Either you focus on healing the entire dungeon (thus giving the effect your after) or Toss out damage to increase overall Party DPS when its safe to do so (while also battling the GCD to get the heal out lol). There's a lot of factors to consider then just healing and while trying to make the part efficent as possible. Like how's the tank able to take/resist damage, how much is he going to pull and so forth. Its a tough job..

Because my fairy does my job for me, being a Scholar has its advantages.

I personally don't let a tank drop below 10k hp, cause I do dps as my whm but I don't try maximize dps I would just play my dps job then.

Any particular reason on this threshold?

if well geared @ lv 60, tanks now have over 20K HP, which would qualify as 50% HP.. so thats reasonable

Seems like a random threshold from my perspective.

My personal healing stance is - I will rouse Eos and dot up / bane, check tanks HP. If they are nearing death or losing HP at a rapid pace - I'll swap out of cleric and heal. If not, I'll Aero and Broil. I don't use any sort of threshold to make that decision though.

My question is why? I want to hear the points of view so I can understand.

(Note: that very rare times I'm watching the tank die, very rare)
This might actually be a trend of just getting more and more gear combined with the fact some healers begin to heal at specific HP values. Let's say, for example, 8K HP will trigger a healer to being their healing.

8K HP on a mid ilvl PLD who has something like 16K HP would be 50%.
8K HP on a high ilvl PLD who has something like 23K HP would be closer to 35%.

Same HP threshold, but different percentage of max HP. There are probably other reasons too but this one feels appropriate to the current discussion.

If your healer is consistently letting you dip below 40% and your are not dying, pat yourselves on the back; you're synced! And unless your healer is standing around eating popcorn, she/he is pumping out some serious dps.

My own comfort is keeping tanks between 50-90% and dps between 85% to full. I would never intentionally let a tank drop below 30 though, but it happens. That's why we have 'oh shit' heals in our toolkit.

I think you meant SCH, not SMN? That said, I have all 3 healers at 60 and DPS with all 3 healers (the least with AST, as I am the least comfortable with that one). WHM has a very strong DPS toolkit.
