GC's are mostly pointless

I just thought I would point this out. Aside from the two things you get from joining a GC: Access to Ifrit and Chocobo (Which are both worth the effort) the GC means ultimately nothing else.

Turning in mats for 4 company seals? Items for 12? Pointless. Levequests for 30 at the most. Pointless. Chocobo protection? Pointless.

There's virtually no reward for doing any of this stuff. 20-40 seals, a miniscule amount of exp. I joined a GC thinking it would be sort of the center of my game, but ultimately there's no real reason to pay attention to it after getting access to ifrit / chocobo. It's just "there."

As a quick recap, why are GC Leves bad? Because they cost a leve allowance and only give 30 seals. Just as a quick basis, I'm going to say at 50 the only worthwhile thing to do with seals is to buy manuals @200 seals each. Manuals are (boiled down to it) 5,000 bonus exp for a crafter or gatherer.

That puts one at about 7 leves per manual. Nearly a full day of leve allowances for 5000 bonus exp.

Well, as a crafter I can do local leves (if the local leves appear rofl), and the bonus exp from those local leves will far outstrip the 5000 bonus exp for any crafter beyond level 10, while also giving other risidual benefits, such as extra gil or guildmarks.

Just a quick recap: Leves are limited. What would you rather have: More experience and guild marks, or less experience and no guild marks?

Please put some things in that will make me want to engage the GC's. EXP for the provision turnins would be nice, even if a small amount. More seals for the leves, in addition to gil. just a couple ways one could start if one wanted to make them relevant.

i agree in part, reward is far to low. and using a leve up on a GC leve does seem a waste of a good leve. but they did say this is just the start and new GC activity's will be released in the future. also i have heard talk that coz we are private 3rd class is the reason why rewards are so low, higher ranks will get higher pay

The stupid low reward rate of companies is to prevent ppl from reaching seal cap too fast. I'ts just annoying they adding uneeded caps just to then use these caps to f'up players...

I do agree companies were a tremendous deception...but i just assume they did this to start the base lore of 2.0. As was said, the only thing that will continue past "Meteor" are the companies so i'd say they might just become your brand new allegiance in the new lore. With the large-scale PvP that seems to be OTW, IMO the new lore might be based on the war between companies...Horde vs Alliance i'd say.

So companies might be pointless right now, but i do am expecting them to grow in content over time much more than any other aspect of the game.

You can continue hating on Grand Companies all you want, but I'll just be over here spending my precious seals on bonus exp scrolls for DoH + DoL jobs.

I agree the reward is low. It has an interesting history behind, but somethings are really annoying. For example when we try to go do the Cassiopeia Hollow leves at level 30, we find many troubles there, for example just at the entrance there are already lv. 36 monsters, that you will have to run to save your life. And them, when you're doing the leve that you have to protect the NPC, sometimes this NPC is near those high level monters and make very hard to complete the task.

1) Decent gear
2) Easy levequests with good EXP
3) Additional EXP for DoH/DoL
4) A use-anywhere mount
...are mostly pointless.

Heck, the chocobo itself is greatly needed. Running everywhere (or wasting precious anima) sucks.

The real purpose of the Grand Companies is to advance the story.
Story was advanced as we leveled to 50, but one we hit cap something was needed to move it forward.
Seals, CG items, ect... that is all just bonus for those who might want them.
Of course to advance the story you do need to put in a little bit of work and earn some seals.

I just can't see the point of having to do all 3 companies quests in order to advance in the one that you selected... having to spy... is just not a good reason, giving me headaches to get a freaking chocobo > cant reach 3k to get it because I'm always losing my anima and time in freaking other companies I don't give a dime for DX

At this rate, I will have 3 chocobos... since they all will reach the point where you need to finish all the quests in all companies to get the final one, assumption... you tell if I'm right or not =_= im new to the game... anyway... it shouldn't be so much time consuming getting a mount, I mean, in 99.9999999% of the games you get a mount (atleast a semi-slow one) when you reach X level, but this is simply nonsense... and now that I read it's just for ifrit and chocobo, is it really worth that much of a hastle for that?!... dissapointed.

Had to wait like 2 days to do the first dungeon LL asks you for DX . . . 2 DAYS... and yes I did look for people but this feels pretty much like a solo game unless I tele to Ul-dah...

The only solution at the moment would be to find an LS and let people push you through it. You can't do much without an LS in this game anyway.

Also, you can only have 1 chocobo since you have to join a company to be able to buy the license. Having to complete all of the Recruit rank quests from every company is not a hassle, they are trying to make the decision easier so that people don't end up with a company they don't like. If you want a mount handed to you, get to level 30 and get a gobbue.
