Found this treasure map and got destroyed by the mobs that came out of it

Read the wiki and it seems you need 8 people to safely gain the contents of a treasure maps chest

Now, I found another map and I opened it
And it was a Dragonskin Treasure map where the wiki explains
you need 8 people at lvl 60 to defeat the maps monsters
That show up when you find the chest

My question is how the loot gets divided
Do I get all the loot after the monsters are defeated or is it split
Between us all? :S

You don't need 8 people, some of the maps can be beaten solo by a skilled person of the right job. Pretty much all of them can be taken down by 3 medium skilled people in ilvl200 gear as long as one is a healer.

Most of the junk loot auto-drops among the party, the nicer items (and some worthless junk) are rolled among the party members.

Only tried 40 - 50 treasure maps and those maps
Where easily solo'able

Got a 220 Bard/205 Warrior So I with this advice, I can easily try the map

I don't recommend soloing dragonskin maps though, Wyvernskin maps are easily to solo at this gear level.

If you do try with only 2-3 people, keep in mind that sleep/bind/etc work on them. Did a bundle with BLM, BLM, ilvl~130 PLD, and they were fairly easy with sleeping mobs. Also chocobos.
