Daily post limit:

When my main character forum account was banned, i switched to my alt. Despite this alt had been around for over 6 months I was still hit with daily limit of 3 posts.

I understand that this is to prevent spammers and rmt creating forum accounts but surely if a customer has been paying for such a long amount of time we should have this post limit removed (similar to how the green leaf status works in game)

For the love of god remove this please, everyone knows it can be bypassed.

Any comment can be wrongly read into, just to give you context my first warning was due to a thread that accused my ls of "controlling the whole of chaos data center pvp with an army of alt ls's"
This thread named myself and other members, also had links to xivpvp ls lists. It was allowed to continue for 2 days with 0 moderation despite how stupid these claims were, i was banned for my responses despite them actually be a joke (even changed my name to keyser soze in game to play along) my ls was called "the usual suspects" but the op had apparently never heard of this movie.

My 2nd and final ban was again due to a pvp forum post, an ls member was again named by another player (calling him a shit rude player). Whilst actually ingame the op was the toxic person, who had also kicked several of our ls members from games plus the op themselves were god damn awful at pvp.

so all i did was link their xivpvp profile to show (i know this is naming and shaming so i understand this decision)

I suppose we have the 1.0 forum members to thank for all these restriction/ lockouts. Apparently, the forums were REALLY toxic back in the 1.0 days and since SE uses this forum as feedback, I guess I can't blame them for these restrictions.

Yeah I think I remember that. If I'm remembering correctly, it got so bad it even inspired a pretty lengthy, but quickly removed, post from either a dev or community rep responding to all the negativity being thrown around on those forums.

1.0 never had a character limit. You can thank 2.0, its beta, and the toxic forums during testing for it, since that is when SE decided to add those restrictions. Nice guess though.

I think the character limit is stupid. The daily post limit is fine though. It gives people time to calm down when they're ranting like crazy and being extremely rude.

I actually like it how it is. PHP-BB is a very powerful solution for this purpose, and they've actually done a pretty good job of tying it together with the Lodestone.

The lighter color scheme and textured theme are something of a throwback to a time when the Internet was simpler, and do a great deal to make the forum seem generally brighter, and friendlier (at least to me).

I wouldn't be surprised if the character limit stays, even though everyone and their mother knows how to get around it, and SE doesn't seem to care if they do.
