End-game gear/currency questions

Hi all!

I finally have one class at 60 (SMN) and another couple almost there (BRD and DRG). I do not plan to raid, and I only do dungeons/trials as required by the MSQ. For the most part, crafting/gathering and glamour/housing things are my "end-game". That said, I do like to progress gear-wise for combat classes, I just do it very slowly, doing whatever I can do solo.

I know I can collect Tomestones that I can trade for gear via daily quests and hunt mobs. Therefore, some questions as per thread title:

1. The gear I can now get with Centurio Seals was available at HW launch with Tomestones (and was changed to Centurio Seals with the first patch), is that right?

2. When the next major content patch drops, what is likely to happen with the current Tomestones? Will a new Tomestone be released for the newer gear or will the current gear be made available for lower level currencies?

I'm just trying to decide whether it's better to exchange Tomestones for gear as I go along, or whether I should wait to see what becomes available later. I hope all that makes sense, and thanks for any help!

To answer the tomestone question:

When the game came out, Tomestones of Law were the "unlimited" currency. Those were for ilevel 170 gear.
Tomestones of Esoterics were the "limited" currency, those are used for ilevel 200 gear.

With patch 3.2:
Tomestones of Esoterics are now unlimited, they are still used for iLevel 200 gear.
Tomestones of Lore are the new "limited" currency, they are for iLevel 230 gear.

With the next patch, I expect Esoterics to vanish, Lore (and iLevel 230) to become unlimited, and a new tomestone to appear for the limited category.

I'm not sure if the Seals are still worth using on gear, since the Esoteric rewards are better, and you can farm unlimited numbers of them now just by running regular dungeons.

Hmmm.... "vanish"? What becomes of Tomestones when they vanish? Are they converted into another currency?

I think you can convert your Law to Esoterics in Mor Dhana. After 3.2 Law just doesn't drop any longer. Anything that used to drop Law now drops Esoterics instead.

Okay, right now I have Esoterics and Lore. I don't have any Law. So in the next patch, would I be able to convert Esoterics to Lore?

If we follow the current trend, Esos will not stop dropping until patch 3.4. If they introduce a new tomestone at that point, Lore will become the new common drop from 60 dungeons and the new tomestone will be limited. That would be my guess.

Yes (assuming they follow the same pattern as before). Once another Tome level above Lore is released, Esoterics will stop dropping, but any leftover Eso you have you'll be able to convert to (a lesser number of) Lore tomes. You'll have roughly one patch cycle in which to do so. So perhaps in 3.4 Eso becomes worthless for purchases and used simply for that trade-in to Lore, then 3.5 it disappears entirely.

(For instance, someone who left the game a long time ago, say back when Mythology Tomes were still around, but comes back now, would no longer be able to trade those in for anything. They'd simply be gone.)

I don't think they'd be removed entirely that early. keep in mind how long it took em to delete soldiery tomes from the game. I think law ones will be around for a bit despite the fact that they won't be in the game for a long time.
