I must say that I've greatly enjoyed the Idle Camera feature ever since they introduced it in 3.1 and added improvements in 3.2. It's nice having a vantage point of Eorzea outside of the perspective of your character. You get to watch NPCs as theycome to terms with being trapped in a horrible and infinite limbointeract with their world. You can view your fellow Adventurers as they scurry about on their daily business, as they wait patiently to take on their next challenge, or just pal around in town with their friends. And if you watch long enough sometimes you witness some really interesting events:
This scared the shit out of me when I first saw it. Having just gotten back from AFK all I saw was the blue of the sky, a few corners of wall, and a pile of fidgeting bodies. For a wild moment I thought something had gone horribly wrong with my GPU or the game until I realized the idle cam was pointed at an army of BLM and BRD standing inside of the walls of Ul'dah.
Someone had better call Raubahn because there's an infestation of rats in the walls of the Hall of Flames! I've seen some funny things through the Idle Camera, but this is the strangest and most unexpected thing that the camera has picked up by far.
Disclaimer: This is not an RMT thread. I've just never seen the Idle Camera pick up something like this before and I found it amusing. SE may have inadvertantly given us a way to detect Floor-and-Wall Bots!
