Your "temporary" solution is to add the "advertiser" to blacklist, so they just go and remake another character with a new name and do it again. Rinse and repeat, free advertising.

Fast forward to now. Many patches and a whole expansion later. Problem worse than ever. "Temporary" solution seems to be permanent, and Square offers nothing but automated cookie cutter responses, similar to that of the gil spamming advertisers? Is Square in on it?

Better Temporary Solution #1 - Add a requirement that makes it more difficult to just create new characters that can spam at level 1. A level 10 quest? Or just reaching level 10? Thus more time required in character creation for they can "advertise." This is drastically cut down on the amount of spams per day.

Better Temporary Solution #2 - Reverse Blacklist! I can only accept messages from people on my friends list, or in my FC, or since you have linkshells, give an OPTION to just turn off incoming messages totally.
