Ever since the game started, we have been plagued by whispers/tells from bots that keep coming every five seconds, and this needs to be stopped. I am obviously not talking about wiping bots out of the picture, since it's impossible, however there is something that Square could easily do to alleviate the burden these demonic things have on us players.
Simply put, add a customizeable filtering system to /tells.
Some people have told me to change my status to /busy, but that does NOT solve the problem, what's more, though it aleviates me, it comes at too high a cost: restricting my liberty; while in /busy mode, I cannot receive tells from my friends or potential party candidates, from a newbie form the newbie network, or someone from my free company.
A filer would solve all this, and a filter that can be customized by enabling/disabling categories to which senders belong to:
Same Free Company Membership.
Within our Friend List.
Within our Linkshells.
Players within the novice network.
Players with Mentor Status.
Players without the novice status.
Adding a category to restrict the /tells one can receive by the level of the sender would be a bit controversial, so I believe they shouldn't be included. However, a "Level 60 characters" wouldn't be half bad to have.
I believe this would pretty much solve the problem, since the only remaining way for the bots to annoy us would be through the /shout, /yell and /say channels, however, the filter could be expanded to those too. Plus, it would be nice that the filter could also be added to the requirements to receive a friend request, since some bots did that (not for a few months now though).
If you're interested, please share this thread so Square, Yoshi, or whoever is in charge of the forums notices it and can comunicate the proposal to the appropriate party. However, I'm not keeping my hopes up.
