    4.0 Relic/Iconic/Artifact/Anima Armor Thoughts

    I've been meaning to start this thread since the Live Letter mentioned the idea of doing a growing Relic style armor and Yoshi-P said to comment about it.

    My thoughts? Yes, please do make a growing/improving armor set in 4.0.

    I feel that making the 4.0 job exclusive armor set a quest based reward would be better than making them another tomestone reward.

    Would rather job exclusive armor be tied to actual job quests instead of 2 week to 2 month grind per piece.

    I’d actually like a combination of the 2. The base “Relic Artifact Armor” could be a reward from the Job quests, but i feel that they get discarded “too soon”. Because if that, i’d like to able to have it evolve into stronger versions which rival the unaugmented Tome gear (which in the current patch would be the 230 gear).

    In addition to that, i’d like to be able to customize the armor to suit my personal taste. Now that old Beastmen tribes (Sylphs, Amal’jaa, Kobold and Sahagin) grant Tier 4 Materia when completing the Rank 3+ Beastmen Dailies, it’s a lot easier to gather materia to meld your gear with. I believe that the FFXIV teams would like materia to be more accessible for players, so that more players will be using it.

    So, i wouldn’t mind another “Novus” system where we can decide what kind of (secondary) stats we’d like to meld into our gear, maybe even more unique traits like “Haste: +5%”, “Refresh”, “Enhanced Physical/Magic resistance”, “Enhanced Block”, etc.

    This doesn’t necessarily have to be equal to the (savage) Raiding gear, but slightly stronger than the unaugmented tome gear, so that people have something to work towards with a bit of freedom so that they can customize it to their hearts content.

    I'd like gear that upgrades the same way as relic weapons, but so long as they keep running relic weapons through the mud I don't even want them anymore... If they can't be asked to make these quests remotely entertaining, I wish they'd just stop wasting development time on them... IMO they might as well just have relics exchanged for tokens which get sent to us via Mog Mail several weeks after updates... They started out so great with Chimera/Hydra/Titan, shame they out right refuse to make relics remotely interesting to obtain these days...

    Yeah I feel it should be job specific quest rewards done via job story-lines. It'd be nice to get those guys some attention without them needing a level-cap increase for more skill quests, plus I miss Curious Gorge.

    I'd like to see a class specific armor set that can grow and change like the relic/zodiac/anima questlines. Though, I'd also like to see something special for those of us that have ground out relic through anima. I was a bit irritated when trading in my Longinus Zeta skipped the least bullshitty part of the anima quests.

    To be honest...I'd rather finally have some armor I can use across multiple classes, even if it's acquired through the classic, grindy relic questline.

    Gearing multiple classes is just a ridiculous pain in the arse as is and lockouts prevent you from keeping multiple jobs up to date entirely. A relic-style set would be a decent enough tradeoff.
