    Chocobo Stats Question

To all my fellow chocobo racers, when you have that perfect chocobo with 4 stars down the row and you're leveling it up to destroy the competition, how do you determine what training to use? Do you level it up to 50 and then decide what training to use? Or is there some sort of growth chart i can use to apply training to make the leveling process easier and still try to max out all of my stats?

Personally I don't think it's necessary to wait until it's r50 to train. Just only train in stats that you intend to max, because otherwise you might end up with some stats higher than you intended. I do like to be at least 20 ranks behind in training as I'm approaching r50 though.

Also, if you absolutely need a particular stat at 500, don't wait until r50 to do it since food will increase your attributes by 15, and you might end up at r50 with an attribute at 490 or 495. If you feed beyond that, you'll be losing attributes. So as you're getting close to r50, try to catch the stat with a multiple of 15 left, and train it right up to 500.

Be careful! be methodical! Know what stats you want! Make sure you don't have any grade 1 food in your inventory or you might accidentally feed it! You only get one chance!

    What Torvald said.
You are almost guaranteed to be able to max out three stats, so decide early on what you want. Acceleration is generally considered to be the weakest stat, but depending on what course you prefer, and what build you're making (abilities), the others are all viable.

I maxed speed, stamina and cunning, with endurance being the stat I would get as close to max as possible (grade 3 feed only obv, which always gives a flat 15 points to that stat).
Early on, I fed my bird whichever of speed/stamina/cunning was furthest behind, but around lv35 I stopped training and building up my training sessions.

When one of my desired stats hit 455, I would feed it three times in that stat to bring it exactly to cap, and then it is no longer "available" as one of the random stats that can be increased at lvl up. The downside of doing this, is as you then only have four stats available for your random stat increases, it increases the chance that they will be placed in an unfavourable stat (ie acceleration). If you are braver, you could wait until it naturally hits 470 (and feed twice), or if really brave, 485 (and feed once), but you are running the risk that at lvl up it will get two allocations and "jump" from say 480 straight to 490, and then you could be screwed out of a few points.

    I ended up with
    Speed 500
    Accel 300
    Endurance 450
    Stamina 500
    Cunning 500
    Speedy Recovery III (hereditary)
    ChocoCure III (acquired)

I was reading that it's a good idea to wait, because your gains in each category are random and you could possibly be using feed in a category that raises faster than others. Mine, for example is a 19 star (stamina is lacking one). But here are my stats at rank 19:
    Speed 115/500
    Acc 115/500
    End 145/500
    Stam 147 460
    Cun 150/500

So as you can see, they don't level up the same. I will probably end up plugging in more feed into my Speed since it's lower. I just don't want you to waste food on a stat that could reach max with a few less feedings.

Note: I have used no feedings yet

It wouldn't be a waste though, since when a stat is maxed, then future random leveling gains are distributed to the four remaining stats instead. So you're not actually losing anything (assuming you intended to max that stat anyways).

Each time you level up, an unmaxed stat is picked at random for increase. At 4 stars in that stat, the increase is always 5 points (if you have less than 4 stars, I think from memory the increase is 4.6, which is why it only appears to increase 4 points sometimes). This process is repeated a further 4 times, for a total increase of 25 points each level up between your unmaxed stats.

As soon as you max a stat it is no longer eligible to be "picked" in this process, so your allocation will be random among your other stats.

I don't mean to hijack your topic, but since we on chocobo stats, how do you go about getting high stars on each stats. I have 3 pedigree 9 chocobo and I have been breeding but the result is undesirable, each chocobo have a combination of max stars and low stars, but combine if super lucky can get max stars on all stats

I did mine as I bred up to 9. My advice is not to necessarily go with the first cover you buy, if it has rubbish stars just discard it and buy another, until you get a cover with a few 4 starred stats. By the time I got to ped 9 my bird had 3 stats at 4 stars, then I had to breed it with "good" covers and hope to get lucky, and get the 4 stars from my bird and other stats 4 starred from the cover bird.

If you just use any covering bird, even if it has rubbish stars, chances are you'll end up with a mix of rubbish stats.

At ped 7 or 8 you want to start thinking about what ability you want to take as your hereditary one, and fishing for it by lethe watering every other ability until you get the one you want. you can then take that forward as your "remembered" ability to your new bird
