why would anyone ever play a different class/job if they release this.... you mean i CAN have a gun blade?!
which is exactly why they SHOULD add it in some way shape or form. In fact, never release jobs/classes that people dont want. Yoshi is all about that kind of thinking. Hes always ftw
I would say a gunblade class would be the following:
weapon: gunblades would have rounded traits in terms of dmg, accuracy, and magic potency, though slightly lower than those of specialized classes, delay would be similar to swords (2.8~3.5 seconds)
Strengths: multi-range damage dealer, able to wear cloth, leather, and light chainmail, well rounded and versatile, with some competency in magic, and quite capable of assuming the role of DD/support
Weaknesses: versatile, but not as powerful as other specialized classes, ranged weapon skills have an mp cost, has the same durability as an arc, can cast magic, but is limited to single-target casting.)
Associated job: Red Mage (before you scream bloody murder, note that both Squall (ffviii) and Lightning (ffxiii) are both adept at using magic as well as melee combat, basically, gunblade classes are red mages who gained a few levels in badass)
on that note, weapon skills:
energy drain: melee ws that does for mp what Bloodbath does for hp
elemental shots: one for each element, uses a bullet + X amount of mp to deal magic dmg + a debuff
Renzokuken and Army of One: Do I even need to explain these? big dmg ws
skills:
the ability to sacrifice all mp as an aoe recharge to all nearby party members (10 minute timer)
this is a front-line hybrid combat class, so no spells or abilities that would make people decide that gunblade users are glorified battery chargers (aka: the most hated aspect of rdm in ffxi)
I agree with a lot of this except the Red Mage job. Personally I think Blue Mage in it's FFXI incarnation would be a closer fit. Due to the similarities between the junction system of ff8 and how traits and spells worked for BLU in ffxi. Plus blue is also a melee + magic class in most Final Fantasies but deal with enemy skills instead of conventional magic. Could be a very cool combo.I would say a gunblade class would be the following:

On a side note: I'm a huge FF8 fanboy and I admit that if Yoshi were to give us a Gunblade class similar to an FF8 incarnation plus some form of CCG in game, I'd never leave lol.
the dev,s will not spoon feed you with a magical silver spoon every idea you present in the table. i find it hard to even consider they implement gunblade would be *logical* based on the circumstance,s the game is going through. well maybe we can see these (ff main hero class) in the Year 2015 and i doubt it, since the devs are trying hard to fix this fail game.
Giant mecha robot anyone ?
Much as I would love it.. Every one would have it, So id prefer it to be an imperial class only..
At least for now, Maybe 2.0 depending on the storyline.
But we need pistoleers/musketeers long before we go there.
Guild-bank Manager , Back-Alley Drunk , Mailman , Rocket Scientist , Archaeologists (with a whip & hat ofc), environmentalist?
.....nah.. just messing around.
Realistic jobs / classes possibly...
* Gardener
* Treasure Hunter - Digging (maybe on chocobo?)
Jobs i'd like to see some day: Thief, Assassin, Ninja, Samurai, Blue Mage, Time Mage, Beastmaster.
I used to be Noomy...then i took shiva's Hail Storm to my knee...
